dai phan
Hi all, I have 2 problems that I could not solve and I need your help. I airbrush at 15 psi and there is one airbrush that when I press the trigger, the output seems like I am operating at 50 psi ! Even when I dial down to 5 psi, the thing still have strong output that makes painting impossible. I have disassembled everything and gave a good lube in the trigger assembly but to no avail. The other issue is one airbrush still give output after I release the trigger. This is due to the valve not closing through a rod after I release. So I give a good lube in the trigger as well as on the valve. But the problem does not go away. The airbrush still give output for 3 seconds after release. I cannot find out where the binding is. Bob Beary
Hi Dai, I don't know what is causing the first issue other than a somewhat clogged tip leading to a Venturi effect. As to the second issue, I would disassemble the entire trigger mechanism...trigger, rod, spring and the valve itself and clean it...not relube it right away. Once the valve itself is out, clean that and the area that it seats into. You could probably use Simple Green degreaser or lacquer thinner etc. on the metal parts. Then lubricate the moving parts with the TINIEST bit of 3-in-1 or sewing machine oil. If you used needle lube on the assembly that might be partly the cause. I'm thinking that right now there is so much lube on the parts it may be hindering their movement...the lube is acting like sludge to slow the movement. cruiz
Hello Dai I concur with Bob about the first issue; you may have some clog somewhere in the air passage. About the second, I had something similar. The problem was that the air valve mechanism was loose, and the spring that closed the valve wasn't exerting force. There was a nut at the base of the valve (where the hose connects) to regulate the tensioning. Hope this help
Bob Beary
Hi Cruiz, Your thought on the valve assembly being loose is something I never thought of, but could very well be the solution. Bob
Alternative 4
Every airbrush issue I have ever had has been caused by the airbrush not being clean. Pull it apart, clean every part of it then flush it with lacquer thinner.

Pull it apart, clean every part of it then flush it with lacquer thinner. I do this after every session. Disassemble everything I could then give nice cleaning. I even do this between colors. I am going to put the affected ones in the ultra sonic lacquer bath with everything disassembled. Dai
caudleryan
Regarding your first issue, it may be that the needle isn't properly seated in the nozzle or you may have a cracked nozzle.
dai phan
Hello all, I placed all the affected ones in the zip lock bag (one per bag) with all parts dissembled . Fill the bag with lacquer thinner then to the ultra sonic cleaner for 60 minutes. Will test them tonight and let you know. Dai
dai phan
Hi all, Still no go. I clean EVERYTHING that can be taken apart and to no avail. Thinking of shipping them to AB service in Portland OR. Dai
lockheed2004
Like someone referenced above, you may have cracked the nozzle. They’re quite sensitive when being tightened back down and the littlest bit of overtorque will damage it. You likely won’t be able to see the crack, but what you describe sounds an awful lot like the nozzle is the issue. I’d order a new one of those before I shipped it off for servicing.
