Lockheed EC-130E Rivet Rider , Scale 1/72

[AWACS-RESIN]

A new Herc project, an EC-130E Rivet Rider. The model will be A/C 63-7773/PA, 7783/PA or 7869/PA in a SEA camo.

 

I use the Zevezda C-130H kit. Started with some reinforcements on the fuselage and made the first five antennas for the fuselage and wings.

You are off to another terrific start.  Don't forget the two big cooling ducts on the fuselage sides underneath the wings and above the MLG sponsons.  Both EC-130E Rivet Rider and Volant Solo had them. See pics below.

Port side duct barely discernable on this EC-130E Volant Solo.

Gonna be awesome to see this come together! The 193rd is converting to the MC-130J. We are training them up here at Kirtland. 

The SOLO J models are being de-modded and I think one of their pilots said   the Navy is getting them for something.

Continuing on the build with making the two aircon. fairings, glued the fuselage halfs together and fitted the 3 antennas.

 

Note: The conversion parts I make do not claim to be 100% correct in shape or dimensions.

Continued with the EC-130E fitting all antennas and pods. Before I start paining I will add 19 static dischargers. Looking forward painting it. One problem I encountered. I don't have any white 36'' Tail code decals. Only 24''. Maybe I will use my 24'' black codes and size them up to 36''. Will see.

I use good pics and try to scale them to 1/72. In most cases it works well. For the rest, my experience working on NATO‘s NE-3A Sentry for 30 Years and 12 Years German AF gave me a good eye and the feeling for dimensions.
