Da SWO
Maybe next year. What lodging is there? Hotel and drive in every day?

Hotels are hard to find unless you book plenty in advance or look outside of the area, some stay in Appleton or Fond Du Lac. Most people camp onsite, which is what we do. I've never driven in any day, but heard traffic can be crazy, but you can always find something to do after the show until traffic dies down. 2 hours ago, jbryan911 said: My son and I are making out first trip to Oshkosh this year. Steve N
I wish I could, but by the time we realized it was the week after Nats, what few accommodations were left were way too expensive. SN
evilmedic13
I’ll assume the RCAF demo won’t be having the colorful bird at Oshkosh due to it also being at RIAT til the 21st and then springbak, AB on the 27th of July?

They have it listed for the 26-28, at OSH nothing about Springbank.

zerosystem
Is the F-15EX doing any flying? Wouldn't mind an Eagle Fest...

Charlie D.
Went in 1990, it was amazing. Drove from Witchita with a relative when I was 16ish. Definitely a pilgrimage Every aviation fanatic should make at least once. I recall we stayed in university dorms somewhere nearby. Edited June 14 by Charlie D.
kernsc
I'm excited to have a big trip planned to take my son out to Wisconsin. We'll be hitting The Dells, the Nats, camping at Devil's Lake, and camping at and taking in EAA Oshkosh for two days. Can't wait!
Jon Krol
I went with a buddy in 2017. It was great. FIFI and Doc were there and did a joint flyby. There were a couple of Bearcats, an A-20, A couple of P-63's, one of which was involved in the mid air with the B-17. Tragic. My buddy had a camper so we camped at Camp Scholler right off the main drag. Busses ran every few minutes so it was very convenient. I'd love to go back. Now that I think about it, it was just FIFI. Saw then together at Sun N Fun. Edited June 16 by Jon Krol

Springbank is cancelled so they can attend Oshkosh. Big deal for us as it is the 100th anniversary of the RCAF, we want to showcase at Oshkosh.
CreepyGuy
To all, As someone who lives about 50 miles south of Oshkosh, it is easy to get to if you stay at a hotel along the I-41 corridor. It takes me less than an hour to get there and there are hotels far enough away that you can find rooms in Fond Du Lac or West Bend, and still get back and forth with ease. It is worth the visit. The RCAF made a big impression on my son years ago at a wacky Wednesday show in Ypsilanti. The RCAF demo pilot had a nice chat with him when he saw one of my cameras draped around him, and later on when the skydiving team was done, the enlisted kids let him and some other help fold up the parachutes. The smile in his eyes was huge when I took a few shots of him helping with the chutes.
