skyhawk524
The A-10 demo team is also now flying the Blacksnake A-10 formerly of the Indiana ANG. This is the final season of the A-10 demo before the AF shuts them down.

RichB63
Thanks for doing this one! And so quickly, too! Not a deal breaker, but was hoping for the non-standard treatment of US national insignias seen on the (real) Viper Demo aircraft. Kinetic missed it too in their new boxing of the jet. Despite the nitpick, I’m very happy and thankful to see this one reach the market and have placed my order. Rich Edited August 6, 2024 by RichB63

Just to be clear, the US national insignias supplied for the F-16 option on sheet CD48237 are “correct,” in as much as they appear to conform precisely to official specs that spell out proper sizing and proportions. But for some reason, the national insignias applied to this particular aircraft (the real one) are “wrong” in the sense that they do not appear to conform to said standards (note the unbroken blue circle and the ill proportioned “bar”). At least this is the case for the fuselage insignia, as shown in the cropped image below. I’m not sure if the same “mistake” carried over to wing markings, as the pictures I’ve seen simply don’t supply enough proof either way. As I mentioned, it’s a minor gripe and one that did not prevent me from purchasing what is otherwise another very impressive (and timely) offering from Caracal. Unlike the fuselage insignia, the wing insignias do have the correct notch/break in the blue with the bar, but the wing insignias also still have that bad proportioned funky overly fat looking bar like the fuselage insignias. ziggyfoos
The Memphis Belle A-10 also has similar non spec unbroken blue around the star: Edited August 7, 2024 by ziggyfoos pic
eraucubsfan
Can the Tamiya Blk 50 kit be used for the F-16?

KursadA
The insignia irregularities are too small in my opinion and I stand by my design decision to ignore them. The Tamiya kit will work for the 2024 demo jet - current USAF F-16 Block 50s have some small updates which will be addressed by a Caracal Models 3D product next month. I have the Caracal sheet on order. I have the kit in-hand. The decals appear to be "okay". They are designed by CrossDelta, and seem to be printed in-house (I don't see anything to indicate otherwise, like "printed by Cartograf" or something such as that on the sheet). In my opinion, they will work in a pinch, but Kursada's will be better. I have a sheet on order as well. I'll be using it on my kit. I haven't looked close enough to see if they got the insignias "right" or not. Aaron
Falcon053
What kit was the F-16C demo decals made for as far as the refueling white markings, the Tamiya or the Kinetic kit? I have looked and its not on the instructions and haven't seen it said on here? The decals look awesome by the way. Thanks Duane Edited August 18, 2024 by Falcon053

Kursad, with regard to national insignias, it turns out you were prescient! The USAF appears to have “corrected” the stars and bars on their Demo Jet, no doubt after having read this thread! I received my set of decals last week and they’re awesome! Rich Edited August 21, 2024 by RichB63

KursadA
Maybe a concerned citizen emailed them and made a convincing argument for why an even slightly irregular insignia is unacceptable on a demo jet that is the showcase of the leading air force of the world 🙂
