1/144 Trumpeter F-16 finished as F-16C 85-01501 926th Wing Flagship

This is a 1/144 Trumpeter F-16 A/C Block 15/30/31 kit. While the molding were crisps with good panel lines it suffers from the lack of weapon stores although pylons were provided  saved for the two drop tanks. Also the NLG door was molded onto the fuselage that I had to remove and use plastic strip to fill in for in-flight build. Some amount of filling and sanding on the underside is necessary.  As usual  I added the pilot and some details to beef up the cockpit area.

I was exploring a more current marking instead of the kit's decal which offered three older schemes. I remembered fellow ARCer Waco posted some info on a new scheme F-16C 706th Sqn Agressors some time ago. I did more search on this  and I decided to try my hand at making my build based on the flagship 926th Wing Group  #85-1501. The stores carried by this bird was the main draw in building it.

I was able to find  2 x AIM 120, 1 x CATM Aim-9 scratch-builds from my spares box. However, I had to scratch-built 1x ACMI pod,  1x AN/ALQ-167 Angry Kitten ECM pod and 1 x AN/AAQ 14 targeting pod to make it as what I saw on photo of the 926WG bird.

Then I added the bird slicer IFF antennas. Replaced the wingtip AIM-9  launcher 16S210 with scratchbuilt AIM120 LAU-129 launcher . Added the RWR on the leading edge of main wing. Added in the AOA and pitot as well as the static dischargers on the main wing and horizontal stabs ( only the tail rudder had them molded-on)

The paint scheme is basically emulates that of the SU-57 Felon. It was when applying the decals that I realised that the fin fillet extension was a little too long. Has to trim off about 1.5mm of it.

Overall was quite happy with the build and finished. Enjoy the photos.

Incidentally Happy Independence Day to all fellow American ARCers!

Best regards,

S K Loh

Hello, I am in the 926 AMXS and would like to purchase this from

you as a going away gift for one of my former troops who has been in the unit for over 15 years.  Do you have a way I can contact you?  Thanks!

Hi Raymondharmon.  I am half way across the globe in sunny Singapore. I really am not sure how this kit will hold during shipping across to the US. Do you know of a way?
