hemspilot
Kursad barely has time to work the decal sheets requests with which we are bombarding him, he'll likely need to hire help to come up with a significantly varied amount of what we are already asking for 3D printed items, this stuff needs far more research and most of it is far more kit specific than decals. Niels
To add to what @hemspilot says, it also has to be commercially viable. Many of the requests are for very special projects that may not appeal to the wider mass. After all, everyone is in it for the money, so it has to be worth while the time and effort it takes to research and design it, and if multiple kits of an item exist - which manuacturers to make it for. From what I've seen, once you make something for one manufactures kit, requests for the same for others comes quickly. I propose that all who has requests give a clear statement of scale, kit and version or topic they would like to see, aswell as contributing to sourcing the references needed to help it potentially come to life. This is what's been done with most of the decals Kursad has made to date, and it works.

Niels
No, not necessarily. More that people are a bit more specific on what they request than just "throwing" something out there. Some of the requests are missing a bit of details the way I read them.

I get your point; however I believe this 3D printed accessories or conversions range should also logically focus on making feasible some of the special versions/prototypes covered by several existing Caracal decals. BAM Models in France or Hypersonic Models in Japan, just to name a few, have already ventured with great success in this area and I’m confident Kursad would profitably consider teaming with them. Contrary to resin casting, the great advantage with 3D printing is that you can completely separate the design work from the actual production. Kursad could certainly contemplate relying on several external experts to design printable CAD files and then « merely » ensure on-demand printing and shipment. KursadA
Hi folks, Thanks for the suggestions! I am working with a very talented designer who is designing the parts - our first parts are F-16 related and will be ready in early September. I promise you will be pleased! Kurt H.
This is really cool, we can have the conversions available to make otherwise impossible but interesting subjects possible. I love F-16s so I am very interested to see what your first release will be.
habu2
An F-16/79 inlet and J79 engine extension would be great. So would an AFTI F-16 spine (and canards)
82Whitey51
Wow looking forward to see what you have in store for us! My suggestion (although it may require a full kit...hey, there's an idea!) YF-16 mods. Other ideas that fall in line with your decals: early F-15 short speed brake, various test probes (long type for the F-14, F-18, F-15, A-10 test birds)

Stefan buysse
Hi, Hard to believe that I left this out of my wishlist, but I'd also love a better Rivet Joint nose for the 1/144 Roden kit. Not an elaborate conversion set and something that goes with an existing Caracal sheet (144-026). Cheers, Stefan.
kernsc
I agree with focusing on subjects for which you have decals but the current kit options may be lacking. Also, modern lumps and bumps. E.g., a CV-22 update, current sensor suite for C-130, updates for F-15EX, NTS upgrade for AH-1W, etc.
joeltc
I,ve only just noticed this thread. But Im are you've already got some good ideas in the pipeline. But heres my suggestions. 1/144 engine nacelles for the GWH B-52H. And corrected wheel bays for the same kit. 1/48 late lot nose gear doors for all F/A-18E kits. So far no kit has the lattice pattern on the inside of their nose gear doors you see on more recent Superhornets. A shame because theres la lot of aftermarket decal sheets depicting these aircraft. And if your willing to go down the path of 3D printed cockpit decals. The 1/72 Hasegawa F-111 kits don't have a set made for them yet. Only a full cockpit.

Now that Fisher Model & Pattern is OOB, I would love to see a 3D printed 1/144 KC-135 nose to replace the Minicraft mess. I would buy 30 right away. Given a little more time to think, I will come up with some more suggestions. 🙂 Kind regards, Dutch Besides a new KC-135 nose, why not some new 3D printed JT3D fan engines for both the Minicraft 707-320 kit & TF-33 engines for the Minicraft KC-135 series of kits? Each kit requires different engine struts, so they would have to be separate items completely. Fan powered 707s were either NYYN (American) or NYYY (everybody else). Inner struts had a longer trailing edge. There were only a handful of YYYY airframes (367-80 prototype & E-8 JSTARS prototypes). KC-135 TF-33 struts all had short trailing edges. However, the turbo hoods varied on both inner and outer struts, so may need to be printed separately. Then, any combination of C/EC/KC/NC/RC/TC/WC could be built. Examples include: NNNN, NYYN, NYYY, or YYNY. Have I totally confused everyone? K/r, Dutch Edited September 17, 2024 by Dutch
