Okay, so I’ve had this kit mostly assembled for about 4 or 5 years just sitting up in a closet. It was going to be a D-Day scheme, but then I decided on an airline scheme after it was mostly complete. I sprayed an aluminum finish using Tamiya rattle can and put some TWA decals on it. Didn’t like it so I stripped it down and tried to decide what to do. We have a Delta terminal here so I wondered if anyone made decals. Found these on Draw Decals, but only problem facing me was that it is a highly polished airplane at the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta. I don’t air brush, so I started to set up for foil, think hit a link for Rub’n Buff. Found some at Hobby Lobby and got to buffing. It’s not nearly a shiny at Ship 41 at the museum, but I do like the result. It was hard to get a good angle to get some nice reflection from the finish, but some parts are better than others. Also, I have the wrong propellers. This plane doesn’t use the paddle propellers. I’ll leave them in-glued until I get the correct set.

Greg at Draw Decal makes a great product, so I used the DD logo on the underside for credit.
Have a look, and thanks for visiting. Chris

I've built three of those Monogram C-47's over the years. You did a great job on yours! No TSA...no jetway

no fighting for an overhead bin...people dressed nice to fly and got real silverware for their inflight meal.....

My dad’s first plane ride was on a Pioneer Airways DC-3 from Dallas to Mineral Wells, TX. He was in middle school then. Said the flight attendant was the prettiest girls he ever saw and was super classy. He said the flight stopped about 5 times on the 100 mile trip, just like a bus. I never got to get decals made so I could build him one before he passed, but hopefully I’ll be able to eventually.

That Pioneer Airways DC-3 was a good looking airplane too. My old boss in C-5's when he was a

young loadmaster flew on AC-47's in South Vietnam. He said it was a great airplane to fly in.

Chris,

It looks beautiful!  Incredible job with all that buffing and decaling.  BTW, I really like the added touch of applying the DD logo to the underside.  Greg is the Best!

Kind regards,

Dutch
