Supertom
Hey everybody, I don't know what the deal is with Hasegawa decals. Whenever I apply them and brush on the decal setting solution, one of the following would happen: 1) It would bubble and wrinkle up, and when it sets it stays wrinkled 2) Nothing happens. So for me it's like a damn lottery. I can't afford to go aftermarket all the time, so I'm not sure what's going on here. I'd glosscoat the model, dip the decals in warm water, and press 'em down nicely with a q-tip. Has it anything to do with my setting solution? I use Walther's Solvaset. madmike
I used Pollyscale decal sol on my Hasegawa F-86D SabreDog's decals and ended up with shrivelled goo. The go, apparently is Gunze Mr Mark Decal Softener for Hasegawa decals. Have not had a chance to prove that advice as yet. ;) MikeJ
Old Blind Dog
One thing I do with most Hase (and Tamiya) decals is treat them ahead of time with a brushed-on coat of Microscale Liquid Decal Film; it's really effective stuff and can often make the difference between success and failure. Lancer512
And DO NOT touch it until it is fully dry again, A very wise tip. I had to learn it the hard way. Had to repaint the bort number of my 1/144 F-5E by hand after that... I am also using a softener, like MicroSet before applying each decal.
Nev
I use Future/Klear and I've never had a problem with Hasegawa decals.
I.Illes
 I can't afford to go aftermarket all the time, so I'm not sure what's going on here. I hear you, mate! Those kits ARE expensive and I expect to get HIGHEST quality for my money when a kit costs 4-5 times as much as those of other manucfaturers. I found out too late that the decals on my Ramstein F-16C are a bit too thick...then again, you look at aftermarket-decals and they look as if painted on...there must be a god, right??? ;) I use Future/Klear and I've never had a problem with Hasegawa decals. Same here, works like a dream. István
Tiger27
I also use "Klear/Future" before applying decals. And for a set I use Microscale, works like a charm ;)
Paul T
Like the boys said ,I too use Future as my setting solution.Never had a problem with ANY decal yet. HTH Paul T
Jamie Cheslo
It is definitely the Solvaset. I have had the same difficulty with Hase. decals and Solvaset. Try using a milder setting solution like Mr. Mark Softer. What I do with Hase decals is place a puddle of water on the surface of the model to originally place the decal, tamp off the excess and let dry. Then, I very sparingly and gently brush on a LITTLE Solvaset. This will wrinkle the decal, but as it dries it will snuggle down quite nicely. I find this works for me consistently. Hope this helps! ;) Jamie
