Running a "Missing Nats this year" sale on CAVU Publications site

Recommended Posts

I was planning on making it to Nats this week, but it isn't going to happen so I will be running a 20% off sale Wed-Sat on my website.

If you do not have my book on the CH-53E, AH-1W/Z or HH-60G, now is your chance!

I am checking the proof for my book on the V-22 and it should be printed in a couple of weeks.

Hi Mason,

Just got the HH-60G book in the mail...awesome. Now I have to put it to use.

Thanks

Thanks Mark!

I am working on 1/35th stickers for the HH-60G that will include the SEA Heritage aircraft.

Does the HH-60G book cover the entire service history of the Pave Hawk, from service entry onwards or does it focus solely on the current-spec HH-60G? I'm interested in the "European 1" service period.  Thanks.

It covers the early days a little, but concentrates on the aircraft serving towards the end of its service life.

Very nice photograph work in your books Mason. Every photograph is sharp and shows the detail clearly.

The printing press did a wonderful job with printing everything in right exposure. I knew of a local aviation author/publisher and in one of his books the printer (out of HK) screwed things up after it was all paid for. The book was approved for printing after final proof but the results were not perfect. Some of the photos were under exposed causing things to look dark. Come to find out the paper was not the same and the ink reacted differently.

Now, (personal preference) I wish they were all hardcovers but I am glad to have them.

I look forward to your next project. Good luck!!

Thanks. I might have to invest in a copy, even if I do plan to only build a Pave Hawk in 1/144 scale! 😬

Thank you. I worked in the prepress world for 30+ years, so the quality of the images was very important to me. I made an effort to make sure that the photographs printed well and that the images didn't gain too much on press, I wanted the details to be of use.

I was fortunate to find a local, southern Californian, printer who is able to get me the results I want. I am hesitant to deal with Chinese, or HK, printers due to their flexible standing on IP.

I could do hardcover books, but I am trying to keep my costs, and inventory, down.

I appreciate your support, thank you.

Mason, it looks like your experience in this industry has paid off and the final results shows. And, I am glad to see these were printed in USA instead of overseas as most books. Yes, price is a factor in these things but if the product is good customers will pay and like myself I don’t mind paying few $$ extra for a book that is hard cover because the binding will last a lot longer.

Btw, my AH-1Z was missing the instruction sheet and I was about to contact you but saw the download link on your website. Is that the approach you are considering on your future decal releases or was this a one off deal?

Hi,

I haven't priced hardcover books, I don't know how much more it would cost. Might be something to explore, maybe very limited run.

I didn't print instructions, there are other decal companies doing the same, it keeps costs down.
