A-7D intakes, exhaust, and cockpit

Recommended Posts

All,

OK, folks, I hope I haven't let the horse get out of the barn before I am able to close the door.  Over the weekend auctions, I was able to win a Hasegawa 1/48th A-7D Corsair II.  As I typically don't build USAF stuff,  I am looking for recommendations and availibilty of after market parts for this kit.  Typically on my older Hasegawa kits, I will replace the intakes (if a semless intake is needed), a resin cockpit (Black Box or Aires), and the exhaust/burner can pieces.   This kit is in dire need of a resin seamless intake but I have been unable to find Seamless Suckers, GT Resin, and the Rhino intake, so I am looking for recommendations from this.  I know that Black Box and Aires both did a resin cockpit, which have both been hard to find.  To be honest, I have lost a lot of desire to have to paint resin cockpit sets, because of new 3D printed technologies.  With that said, a painted resin cockpit is going to be my Plan B, but not being able to find a 3D printed set for this kit, which is going to be my Plan A, which may vanish into thin air,  as I am talking about companies like Babibi, Kelek, or Quinta Studios.  Thus far I have not been able to find anything.  The intake and the cockpit detail are primary concerns while everything else would be secondary.  In short I am looking for anything that will spruse up this old Hasegawa kit, so any opinions and/or reccomendations are Welcome!  Thanks ro All!

Best Regards,

Ken Bailey

Hello Ken,

ResKit released a quite comprensive amount of detail sets for the Hasegawa A-7D/E kits.
Those includes cockpit, seamless intakes, wheel bay, exhaust, pylons… actually you can replace almost the entire kit, the only limit is the budget…😅

Kind regards.
Marco

Hi Ken,

As Marco says go look at Reskit 😀

They have just released an absolutely amazing 3D printed intake and wheel bay set. It's on the pricey side but the detail in the wheel bays has to be seen to be believed. They also have a replacement tail cone and exhaust nozzle, wheels and pylons; you can download the instructions to see what the sets include:

https://reskit-models.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=Corsair&ocf=F16S2V3607417149F1S0V8

If you can wait, keep an eye on the site as they do regular sales events with 10%-20% discounts across all products, even some new releases.

I believe they are still working on a cockpit. Some of their recent sets have included 3D instrument panels so that may be a feature if they do release an A-7 cockpit. I'm sure that Quinta and Kelik will get round to the A-7 family at some point. Quinta in particular are releasing all sorts of stuff for older kits so there's a good chance the A-7s will eventually get covered. The Aires cockpits should still be available, at the time of writing Hannants has stock (https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AIRE4117?result-token=894qF) but I'm not sure if it would work with the Reskit intake.

HTH,

Jonathan

If you have the coin get the reskit stuff it’s all amazingly well done.  Well worth the month and the intake and wheel well set is something to behold. Also the exhaust set is great along with the pylons.  I’m just waiting to get the cockpit set from them before I start on my D.
