Tamiya 1/48 F-4B Sundowners

Recommended Posts

At some point down the road I'll invest in a photo booth, until then...

It's is a fantastic kit, and we have seen some amazing builds here previously!

Nothing aftermarket at all, just the kit as it is in the box... except my desire to have it taking off!

Beautiful! I'm waiting on a bunch of paint to come in the mail, then I'm off and running on mine. Throwing pretty much every bit of aftermarket you can at it, not that you need it (you've proven that) but because I want to. We'll see how it turns out. Yours turned out amazing. I love the transition configuration.

Thank you, much appreciated,

go for it with aftermarket as there is so much stuff to have fun with!

My brother built a 1/72 F-14 in the Sundowners livery back in the 80's, and I've loved the scheme since.

It's a great kit, enjoy you're build!

Andy,

Absolutely stunning build, all the way around. I love the dramatic pose. And you captured the "late B" high lift devices' configuration so expertly and accurately.

Exceptional work sir!

Umm, thank you.

Considering that I've been following along with your work in the WIP section... I'm humbled.

Awesome work by the way!

To quote a better painter than myself, "I try to just paint what I see"

Terrific in-flight build.

Yes…I said “in-flight” even though some say since the gear are still not all the way retracted then it’s not “in-flight”. Thank goodness that wasn’t the case for all the carrier or land based Toff/launches I had…..gear leaves the deck = “Airborne”.

Cheers

Thanks phantom and Collin, much appreciated!

And as far as I'm concerned... it's airborne! 😁

For me, and my love affair with planes is the flight aspect... it's where the magic happens.

If anyone is interested, the bases that I use are from the local hardware store. They are replacement feet for couches and sofas flipped upside down and stained.
