ya-gabor
FineMolds announced a Model 52 Zero today. Interesting break down of parts! Alternative canopy with separate frame or "traditional" canopy. Two versions of after exhaust panels depending who manufactured the original. Lots of slide moulding. . . One of the mottos for the kit is Made in Japan! : ) : ) Some heads are not really going to be amused at Eduard. Here is a video of the announcement with lots of background info. JackMan
This one's a surprise. Thanks
ya-gabor
It was a surprise! Yes. But looking it at it there are some interesting features. Why a Zero???????? * Well everyone was waiting for a late Phantom (those in favour of F-4's), * everyone was waiting for a new F-15 (those in favour of the Eagle), * everyone was waiting for . . . Please tick in the appropriate box! : ) : ) Have to say that the only Zero I was ever tempted by was the Rufe, it is something special. But some of the brakedown and technological things on this one could in the end . . . Best regards Gabor
CRAZY IVAN5
Well, I'm going there ,Why a type 52?? What is the deal with these companies in doing a type 32 "Hamp", they always seemed to go with the 52 [ I understand more 52s were built than 32s, but still.............] Can't we diversify a little here? Craig Baldwin
From finemolds_t on X (Twitter) with a Google translation. "The assembly direction is decided at the design stage, but when actually putting it together, it often turns out differently than imagined. From here, we will create the instructions"
sakai
As promised, Eduard has made a progress in developing the "rest of Zero family", scroll down 2 days prior https://www.facebook.com/EduardCompany They don't need to be concerned with this FM "surprise" release. As they were not concerned with Academy releasing their 1/48 A6M2 which, by the way, turned out to be pretty crappy model anyhow. If Eduard don't sell much in Japan (due to too high prices supposedly) they'll sell elsewhere.
Craig Baldwin
Initial shake down complete. A success. Actually, just a curious modeller checking out the fit of parts on the test kit. FM zero.mp4

ya-gabor
A little closer look at the new Fine Molds Zero details from Twitter (Google translation): I have been told that the rivets on the 1/48 Zero Fighter I announced will be expressed as a doughnut-shaped circle instead of a dot-hole ●, and I have been receiving praise for being a "pervert!", but in fact, I have been showing glimpses of my perversion for over 20 years. "Because there is no way that all the flathead screws will be facing the same way." The red arrows show the different orientation of screw heads. : ) : ) And a little scale of what we see. Craig Baldwin
I think everyone is interested how the windscreen/canopy will look. First glimpse. Posted on X by finemolds_t .
JackMan
Will be easier to paint the framing then
ya-gabor
There have been already complaints that the separate frame and glazing is not . . . Well it is just one OPTION for the modeller! You don’t have to use this version if you don’t like it! A complete traditional (boring) one piece canopy is also provided as alternative for the modellers. Here are some steps of building the kit. Sprues in hand show well the size of the Zero in 48th scale. Stills taken from a todays video from Fine Molds here: Best regards Gabor
Craig Baldwin
This looks quite nice. As posted on X by finemolds_news.

A little close up of the engine exhausts with the fine welding beads on it. Going in closer and closer for a better view of the detail. : ) : ) Also a breakdown of fuselage. ya-gabor
This week the second version of the Fine Molds brand new 48th scale Type 52 Zero kits are been shipped to distributors. Here are those individual canopy frames prepared for packing which have been in the news and talked about so much. Anyone who does not like this can still use the “traditional” canopy parts, like on any other kit. Both are included. Best regards Gabor
