Steve thank you and hopefully it will be completed, the water is turning out to be more of a challenge than I remember.

Oh, yeah. That capsule just returned from space!!!! Gorgeous. Still can't get over the floats. So cool. Nice detail on the raft as well. What great work!

Harry thanks for posting and your interest along the way, I couldn’t wait to try another splashdown diorama once I got the printer so hopefully I won’t disappoint!

Jim Lovell and the crew of Apollo 13 are glad the recovery chutes got them to the water!

That's looking really awesome! Great job so far!

Cheers...Ron

Thanks so much Ron , it’s been a a little up and down because of me rushing into this project as it was unplanned but it’s starting to take shape .

Your finish is just gorgeous. You're moving beyond craftmanship and into art itself. I look at that and think that maybe it's time I should take up golf or something...

I don’t know what to say other than wow!,  that’s quite the compliment and I really appreciate you posting and keeping up with the build. I’ve modeled ocean water before but it’s been a long time and I don’t quite have a handle on it.

Sorry guys for taking so long to post a response, I get busy and don’t have a lot of time to get on the computer all that much this time of the year.

Water is giving me fits !!🤯, it still needs a couple more coats of acrylic medium, antennae and beacon left to be installed on the CM plus figures need to be started.

This was a spur of the moment build that turned into a ………….

You guys want to see the failures too ?,  let me know because the ocean was painted more than once.

Oh, my. I am sending these pictures to my newly minted scale modeling buddy for him to drool over. Simply wonderful.

Harry thank you but I’ve made some changes to the ocean dye area that I felt at that point in the recovery operation  it was too saturated.

The ocean looks really good....love the sea dye lingering around too! The initial burst

of sea dye is like anti freeze color then it disapates. Gonna look great when finished!

Cheers...Ron

Ron still not sure about some areas but thank you and see above about the dye area….. I feel it should have been more diluted at that point in the recovery mission.

Water is tough to do, I think it looks fantastic.

Steve

Yep it sure is harder than I remember modeling and even harder to photograph!😜😜

Not the usual area for me on this forum, just the occasional glance...

Glad I did! Absolutely fantastic work, and I mean WOW🤩

Those photos don't lie, you're capturing a monumental moment beautifully

Andy

Andy glad you stopped by and visited our little of area of spaceflight modeling , thanks so much for your comments and come on back and take a look at the wonderful builds presented here by all the other talented modelers.

Totally agree on the dye packet comments, seen a few dispersed and you have caught the look wonderfully. Still can't get over the trailing orange bag under the water. Super!

I may have diluted it a little too much…….😩😩

The diver is going to need a lot of converting and I’am not overly happy with the sculpt but it’s really the only option

Harry thanks but now I think it’s time to set it aside and concentrate on a figure or two, starting to loose the motivation here because of the ups and downs I’ve had building it.
