Sabrejet
Nearly there...
Craig Baldwin
A bit surprised they are following so quickly.
GeneK
Considering how quickly the ClearProp 1/48 kit sold out at their store, I'm at the ready to order several 1/72 as soon as the store makes them available. It would be great if Clear Prop made those sprues plus slats and flaps available as a separate purchase to allow "supplementing" kits like the excellent Hasegawa F-86D. Or maybe Clear Prop has the D model in it's future line up? Thanks, Duncan. Great news. Gene K Edited September 1, 2024 by GeneK

I am sure there is a market for an F-86A also in 72nd scale. Was the last one the Matchbox kit? Surely . . . There are companies around who make very long term plans and in the end “forget” to release them or some of them. What is the point in that????? Here you have a nice kit, all the necessary data, the manufacturing infrastructure, a good team to make a kit, so why not do it? Time is relative! The 48th scale kit you see getting into shops today was already in hand with all its sprues in April at the Moson show. A lot of time passed since then and I am certain that the designers and toolmakers were hard at work on other new projects like this 72nd version. Also lets not forget there is a bloody war going on at the same time. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. Look forward very much to the 72nd scale kit! Good luck to the team! joeltc
If they're willing to produce this in both scales then maybe theres hope they'll produce their Mig-23 in 1/48 also?

I think you totally misread Craig's comment. Like Craig, I'm also very pleasantly surprised that the 1/72 kit is coming so soon on the heels of their fabulous 1/48 kit. Previous speculation was that the 1/72 kit would be out around the end of the year, whereas now Mr Sabrejet states that it's "nearly there" and as he said on BW, that it's "coming soon". Further, Gabor, I think that the market for a 1/72 Sabre series is likely stronger than for 1/48, especially outside the US. Gene K

Gene K I'm not a 1/72 fan, but I can see a shelf-full of 1st Fighter Group aircraft for a start. A finger-four Korean War display wouldn't break the bank either. Gene K Hi Gene, There was nothing negative in my comment, more a very positive!!! YES, YES, YES! go forward and do it! More than happy to see this kit come out. I am sure Craig was also surprised by this news. That is the way to go!!! Just hope that other manufacturers would follow this way of thinking and be willing to invest in new things, new ideas. It is important to take into account business plans, market trends, look into charts of sales, make predictions . . . of course after all this is business. But sometimes one has to make bold decissions and go forward! In some parts of the world one can certainly sell more 72nd kits but 48th scale kits have much better returns and places like US will sell in big numbers.
