Interestingly, it’s the least expensive of the 3 in Tamiya’s range.

Yeah that’s interesting.  I can see the B being a little more with the lift fan parts, unweighted and weighted gear struts, stand, and exhaust position options, but I’m surprised the C is cheaper than the A.

Mine arrived today.  Pretty impressive kit.  You get two sets of outer wings with a total of four AIM-9X and launchers, so you can build both extended and folded wings and swap them out later.  Not sure how many people will actually be doing this, but it’s in there.  A fair amount of new parts from the A kit.  About the only reused parts seem to be the engine, intakes, canopy, most of the cockpit, the weapons and weapons bay.

i just got mine in today. it's a fantastic looking kit as expected.

however as someone who likes to build stuff in-flight i'm pretty disappointed in the way all the control surfaces are done. all of the control surfaces on the wings are molded in the down position, and the rudders are toed-in. unless i'm missing something there doesn't seem to be an option to build them any other way. i think some of them could just be fixed by clipping off the attachment tabs but the trailing edge flaps for example are molded in such a way that if you straighten them out there's a huge gap.

funnily enough the nose gear doors seem like they could be closed up with a little work, something that was really difficult to do on the F-35A as the doors were too large to fit the nose gear bay.

My kits are stuck in USPS Purgatory in Chattanooga. Apparently their tracking system went t!ts up a couple of weeks ago and no one knows where anything is.

Be glad it did not route through Canada. We have been under a postal strike for a month now.

I was fortunate, my Squadron order got caught in that same snafu but somehow escaped safely

Same with me.
I should have just driven the 1.5 hours down and picked it up in person.
