For those building an F-35B, a few shots that may help out...

Recommended Posts

Had the pleasure of getting a VMFAT-502 Flying Nightmares F-35B in front of my lens at Seattle Seafair this summer. Here's a few shots that may help out in your builds. The shadows are pretty heavy in the bays, but you get an idea of where the doors all are.

Very nice. That sheen is hard to match - says someone who has failed.

If you've got Facebook, check out Geoff Martin's (Furball Aero Design) build. He used the Tamiya-recommended "recipe" and it looks awesome.

Thanks, I'll do that. I have grown to really like the F-35...might be because of the really nice (at least to me) 1/72 kits out there. But getting that sheen is difficult...kind of like the Have Glass finish on F-16s.There's just something elusive there...and yes, I know, that's part of the multi-million dollar special paint.  But Gunze Sanyo doesn't put it in a bottle!! Thanks for the photo and the tip.

Did he post this on his personal feed? I can't seem to find it on the Furball feed, which I follow.

I believe Tamiya now sells it in their LP Line pre-mixed.

Cool. That will save some time and frustration. I have the colors that are suggested. I bought them when the Alpha came out, but since I have the Bravo in the stash, with plans to get the Charlie when it comes out, having a pre-mixed option that looks the part will be a better/easier route to go.

Totally agree. Built the Academy A, nice kit but didn't like the finish. Have a Hasegawa and Fujimi B and the new (to me at least) Orange Hobby C - which looks sweet. The Tamiya news is a blessing!
