strikeeagle801
My wife and I were getting ready to go to bed about 10 o'clock last night. Carolyn's side had been hurting for about 3 days and had been steadily getting worse, to the point she was in pretty serious pain last night. She insisted that she was okay, but I convinced her that it could be something serious and that she should get it checked out. We went to the local free-standing ER here in town and checked in. After an initial exam, the doc determined that it would be best to do a CT scan of her abdomen. The doc originally suspected a possible kidney stone, as the pain was on her side, migrating slightly towards her back. Results showed that, even though she was not presenting any of the "normal" symptoms of fever, vomiting or even pain in the right area, she had acute appendicitis and needed emergency surgery to remove her appendix. After a quick round of IV antibiotics, I drove her to the main Kadlec hospital in Richland (about 15 minutes away) and she had her surgery about 11 o'clock this morning. She is home recovering now. Everything went well, and she should be just fine. My point is this...If your body is "speaking" to you, LISTEN TO IT! This could have been so much worse than it was, and I am so grateful that I was insistent on getting her checked out. Aaron Edited October 15 by strikeeagle801

MattP
Aaron, as a Registered Nurse, I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "I didn't think it was serious". Whenever you have persistent acute pain, please, get it checked out!!! Acute, sharp, debilitating pain, is the body's way of screaming for help. don't screw around with pain symptoms. I'm glad she's O.K. and on the mend! Edited October 15 by MattP

wxltcol
My Mom ended up with a burst appendix because she didn't want to go in. It burst early Monday morning, but it was Friday before my cousin, Lynne, persuaded to go in. She went in in the nick of time. They had to basically hose her insides out due to the crap she had. She survived that, at least. As MattP said, "Listen!". Glad your wife's recovering and will be fine!! Tom
