F-14B RIO cockpit display question ?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm planning to make a vf-143 f-14b for 2002.

I'm asking because I'm so confused while looking for the data.

What is the small display of the F-14B RIO cockpit for?

I don't know if the picture I found is f-14b, but this picture doesn't have a small display.

However, the 3D cockpit decal has a small display.

Does the f-14b in 2002 have to have a display?

Or should there not be any?

I was gonna say, I thought it had to do with the JDAM delivery system in the B’s and D’s but couldn’t remember off the top of my head. Too bad Quinta got its placement wrong on their decal however.

I'd say Quinta got it right according to the Danny Coreman book, page 82 and 84 show the display. The original pic above is probably from a jet that hasn't been modified yet.

Yeah, the linked document mentions the OFP317 upgrade (1997) as containing the PTID unit, etc. as seen on the photo, but before the CDNU was installed.
