I spent last night getting what I have on hand pinned to the left wing. The BRU-57 was pinned to the wing pylon and, the wing pylon was pinned to the wing. The LAU-129/ALE-50 combo were also pinned to the wing. I still need to order my wing tanks, GBU-38's and, GBU-12's but, for now, I'll work on getting the TER, the wing pylon and, the LAU-129/ALE-50 combo pinned to the right wing. Have a good weekend all. strikeeagle801
Looking great so far! Question? Where are you going for your GBU-38's and -12's? May I suggest Flying Leathernecks? The collar (for lack of a better term) of the JDAM is printed separately, which allows easy painting, and his Paveways are excellent. I've used both several times. Aaron. Aaron. Thanks Aaron. For the 38's I'm going to order them from Flying Leatherneck because I used them on my 1/18th AV-8B and they worked well plus, like you said, the forward strakes are a separate piece which is nice for painting. I'll also order them from RES/KIT because I'm using their BRU-57, they should match up well and, they come with decals. I'll decide which one's fit better and I'll have decals either way. The GBU-12's will be from RES/KIT because again, I'm using their TER and, you get decals for the bombs. Steve

Steve I will admit that is the one shortcoming with Dave's (and Flight Line Resin too) weapons...the lack of decals. As you've seen, I used a Flight Line Resin AIM-54C on my F-14D and had a hard time getting decals to fit just right on the missile because they weren't designed specifically for it. The weapons themselves are gorgeous, but having decals included would give them that extra "push". Aaron
A-10 LOADER
I now have everything pinned to both wings, except for the fuel tanks, which are currently out of stock at Sprue Bros. I think next I'll start breaking some of these pieces down and spray some primer / paint. Steve
A-10 LOADER
Minor update on the Viper. I'm slowly making progress on some of the parts, between primer, painting different colors, drying time and, masking, these parts have been quite a lot of work. The missiles, BRU-57 and, the TER are all gloss coated awaiting decals. Steve The Sniper pod pylon was painted FS 36375 Light Ghost Gray and, the hardback is FS 36118 Gunship Gray. Stations # 2 and 8 were finished. The ALE-50 pylon's are painted FS 36375 Light Ghost Gray, the LAU-129 missile rails are FS 36270 Neutral Gray and, I used FS 36118 Gunship Gray to replicate the "solid film" SFD spray. LAU-129's sprayed Neutral Gray and Gunship Gray was used to replicate the SFD spray. Got the center line pylon finished up as well.
Niels
Are you planning drop tank on the centerline? Because if you are to mount an ALQ-131 pod it uses the short and shallow centerline pylon. Ie not the one normally seen on the ALQ-184 jammer. Doing 89-2178 myself from the Kinetic Gold F-16D kit, really like the kit even if not Tamiya 😉 Just waiting for new seats which are on the way from www.the48ers.com as the kit seats are shite. No, the center line will be empty, that's why I ordered the more "detailed" pylon from Kopecky Scale Models. I'm aware of the shorter pylon for the ALQ-131. A-10 LOADER
Another minor update for the Viper, My decals for the missiles arrived so I can get them applied. I also received my GBU-38's so, I decided to get started on them. Got everything cleaned up and a coat of primer was applied. I only need two for this build but, I'll do all four and have spares. The three small triangles to the left are Memorial flags, I want to add one to the front canopy area, like I did on my AC-130J, before closing it up. Thanks for looking. A-10 LOADER
Since I decided to use the kit parts, instead of a "seamless" aftermarket intake, I wanted to get it a seamless as possible. I started by painting what I could, to make things easier, before assembly. After a lot of dry-fitting to get things as close as possible, the side walls, roof of the intake, inlet ramp and inlet trim ring were painted. Then I glued the intake halves together and added the inlet ramp and the inlet trim ring. A little final sanding where the glue wrinkled the paint, the two side seams caulked with some Vallejo putty smoothed with a wet Q-Tip and some paint to blend everything in. This area of the intake was masked off to be sprayed Insignia White to help blend everything in when looking in from the outside. I also wanted to give the illusion of the intake duct work so, I masked off the appropriate spots and sprayed them black. Not too bad I guess, better than a all white space and, once everything goes together it should look ok.
A-10 LOADER
A little bit more accomplished on some parts this week. I got the hand painting finished on the BRU-57 and the TER. The GBU-38's, nose strakes, nose fuses and the Sniper pod were also painted. Decals will be next for these. Slowly chipping away at things but, progress is being made. ExchefAndy
The intake idea... Brilliant! 🤯 Your approach to various parts, it's thinking outside of the box. Love it Andy

I wrapped up the Flying Leatherneck GBU-38's, the wing pylon and BRU are just sitting on the bombs, they will be attached at the end of the build. I made a memorial flag for the cockpit area. Not great but, should look ok. The Flight Line Resin AIM-120C's were finished as well. I have to keep them labeled so they go to the proper stations at the end of the build because the pin locations in the missiles and rails are not 100% the same. I'm still working on the AIM-9X. THE Hasegawa AN/AAQ-33 Sniper pod and pylon were finished also. I scratch-built the tan and white antennas on the bottom of the air inlet and added the small black box from a Eduard pod. A-10 LOADER
Thanks Aaron. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. I ordered this MCC F-16 Exterior Detail Set for the pitot tubes really. Once it arrived I took a closer look at things. It comes with 2 pitot tubes, chaff/flare buckets and, chaff/flare to insert into the buckets, pretty cool right ?, how hard could this really be ? I spent about 1 1/2 hours trying to get one set of flares and one set of chaff into their respective buckets, I'm thinking this is not so cool anymore. I finally got 4 buckets completed and now feel compelled to use them. Problem is these are made for the Tamiya kit, which I'm told has holes for these buckets. My Hasegawa kit does not so, some creative work has to take place. I have to cut four small square openings in the lower fuselage as well as build a box for the buckets to fit into, I don't trust just gluing the buckets to the fuselage, not strong enough. Hopefully I can pull this off without ruining the lower fuselage, we'll see. Steve
strikeeagle801
Well, if anyone can pull this off, it is you. The MCC sets are exceptionally well-done. I was very impressed with the detail set I bought for my Tamiya F-14's. Two things they always say...slow and steady wins the race, and measure once, cut twice Wait a minute....
