Lookheed Martin AC-130J Ghostrider, Scale 1/72

Recommended Posts

Concerning the clear parts: I think it' a problem of all AC-130-kits by Zvesda. I had it, and I think every other builder here who bought the kit as well. Fortunately they can be corrected quite easily, either by water as Jost did, or simply by glueing them on the fuselage section by section as I did.

The clear part of my kit only gave me the option of working with hot water because the front window was heavily curved inwards. The hot water caused it to straighten itself when it was bent. Gluing it piece by piece would not have achieved this and it would have looked ugly. This is for my part. The windows on the other AC kits may be more or less deformed.

Sorry to hear about the clear part issue. Are they squished in all the AC-130J boxings?

I'd love to build a Spectre. I'm pulling up a chair.

It seemed to be hit or miss with the front canopy glass. Mine was practically flat when it arrived, it was possible to bend it into shape but, I didn't trust it so I ordered a replacement piece of glass.

So this must be the reason Eduard has a set of masks for C-130 and AC-130 from Zvezda. The latter account for the flat clear parts 😉

All antennas are attached and the windows are taped on my parallel build of the AC-130J. I have started spraying the undersides of the fuselage and wings with FS16622. Next, the upper surfaces will be painted with FS16118 Gunship Grey.

The machine has been sprayed and we can move on. I actually wanted to continue with the engines here too, but I didn't really feel like it. I had most of the decals printed by a company using a laser and then applied them. Next up are the engines.

Thanks for looking

The last work was to attach the GBU-39 before the model was sprayed with clear varnish. Then the window masks could finally be removed and the windshield wipers attached.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by.

Under the following link more pic of the model.
