AWACS-RESIN
There is another Hercules here. The AC-130J Gostrider, also from Zvezda in 1/72. Here too I am starting with some reinforcements. The cockpit windows in the AC-130J kits are all almost flat. But I managed to get them in place with hot water.
A-10 LOADER
Looks familiar 😁, following along on this one. Steve
Thadeus
Sorry to hear about the clear part issue. Are they squished in all the AC-130J boxings? I'd love to build a Spectre. I'm pulling up a chair.
Hajo L.
Concerning the clear parts: I think it' a problem of all AC-130-kits by Zvesda. I had it, and I think every other builder here who bought the kit as well. Fortunately they can be corrected quite easily, either by water as Jost did, or simply by glueing them on the fuselage section by section as I did. HAJO
AWACS-RESIN
The clear part of my kit only gave me the option of working with hot water because the front window was heavily curved inwards. The hot water caused it to straighten itself when it was bent. Gluing it piece by piece would not have achieved this and it would have looked ugly. This is for my part. The windows on the other AC kits may be more or less deformed.
Hajo L.
Then I was lucky with mine and had a less deformed part - but thank you for posting your solution to the problem here! HAJO

Mine was practically flat when it arrived, it was possible to bend it into shape but, I didn't trust it so I ordered a replacement piece of glass. Steve

Steve So this must be the reason Eduard has a set of masks for C-130 and AC-130 from Zvezda. The latter account for the flat clear parts 😉
AWACS-RESIN
Progress on the build of the AC-130J. Glued the fuselage and wings together and added a few more reinforcement stripes. Started with the antennas. Edited December 18, 2024 by AWACS-RESIN
A-10 LOADER
All of this seems so familiar to me 😉. Loving all the little details, keep up the fine work. Steve
AWACS-RESIN
So, all the antennas on the top of the fuselage and the wings are attached. We're moving on to the bottom of the fuselage. But that probably won't be until after Christmas. Merry Christmas to you all.

AWACS-RESIN
All antennas are attached and the windows are taped on my parallel build of the AC-130J. I have started spraying the undersides of the fuselage and wings with FS16622. Next, the upper surfaces will be painted with FS16118 Gunship Grey.
A-10 LOADER
She's taking shape now Jost, looking forward to your next update. Steve
AWACS-RESIN
The machine has been sprayed and we can move on. I actually wanted to continue with the engines here too, but I didn't really feel like it. I had most of the decals printed by a company using a laser and then applied them. Next up are the engines. Thanks for looking
Red Dog
Great stuff. These 130s are mean looking

AWACS-RESIN
The last work was to attach the GBU-39 before the model was sprayed with clear varnish. Then the window masks could finally be removed and the windshield wipers attached. Thanks to everyone for stopping by. Under the following link more pic of the model. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/377015-lookheed-martin-ac-130j-ghostrider-zvezda-scale-172/
