Skinny_Mike
Hey there modelers! Just wondering if anyone has build a MiG-29 with the Quinta studios cockpit set? I’m building a GWH mig-29 and can’t seem to match the color. Wanted to see what others used. thanks! mike
Andrés S
Hi. I am in the process of building a MIG-29 9-13, Zvezda brand in 1/72 scale and I have used the Quinta studio kit for its cockpit. Although I have this build "sleeping" for now... The problem with these "decals" is that they do not have a homogeneous color but are made up of tiny colored dots that make the eye capture a certain color so when using macro on small parts it is revealed but at first glance it looks more or less fine. I leave you at the beginning a photo of the front panel of a real airplane so you can see the color, although the photo is somewhat darkened. And later some photos of the painted cockpit with the decals on. As I said with the macro and the magnification of the object in the photos you can see the dots but at first glance it looks homogeneous. Well, the color I have used has been the AK Real Color RC-253 equivalent to the Federal Standard FS-36495. Gunze also has this FS so it might work for you. Andrés. Skinny_Mike
Thank you, Andres. The color looks great! Red Fox provides a color match for their sets, I just wish the other manufactures would as well. Mike
paulsbrown
I always use very thinned down cockpit color on Quinta sets, it blends the decals in so much better. It's easier than you might think. Same with etched sets. It also gets rid of that terrible grainy quality they often have.
