CD48234 - 1/48 F-111F

Recommended Posts

Some of you pointed out the fact that the "Statue de LIberte" badge was somewhat different and darker during the El Dorado Canyon time period, and I will make a last minute addition to the sheet to provide these. You might have noticed that the sheet includes markings for "Karma 52" (70-2389) that was lost during the raid.

Will your announced F-111F sheet CD72164 (Feb release) be a scaled down version of this sheet?

Same subjects, but no separate stencilling sheet. I am considering expanding the Basics concept to 1/72 in 2025 and may do an F-111 stencilling sheet in the future.

I want to get a set of these, but I really don't want to pay for international shipping to Australia. Have you considered BNA as a potential seller?

I do not know who BNA is but I have not received an inquiry from them about being a reseller.  I do not actively look for resellers (I believe I have enough already) ,  I will consider it if they reach out and show interest.

Kursad,

Very much looking forward to your 1/48th F-111F sheet and proper PAVE TACK pod!!! Much overdue and looking forward to!...nice to know Jim 'Mr Vark/Mr Ordnance' Rotramel assisted 🙂

Kinda an offshoot of this project: any thoughts about modifying the PAVE TACK for the F-4E version carried by the 3rd TFW & 4th TFW and RF-4C of the 10th TRS?  Eduard did a resin kit ( Eduard Brassin 648-449), but no longer available........Afterburner did markings (48-068) as did AeroMaster (48-339) depicting the final F-4E combat deployment at Incerlik, Turkey, in 1991-1992 during Operation Desert Storm in which the pod was 'supposed' to be carried; but war ended the day before the strike mission with the pod was supposed to be deployed......kinda unique.......

...images are scarce......there is info out there....I did correspond with Craig Lightfoot, the CO of the deployed unit...he didn't forward any photos, but confirmed loud out and names on the canopy rails during the Desert Storm deployment....sadly, I think I read recently Craig passed away suddenly.....

...just a thought while you're finalizing the PAVE TACK pod.....

I still have a lot of reseller orders to pack and ship - I will not be able to post any F-111F or F-89  profiles before the second week of February, sorry. It is highly likely that almost any F-111F you might be interested in building is either there or is possible with additional serial number digits.

Just a question from a guy without much knowledge of the Aardvark: What kit would be ideal to use for the F-111F in 48 scale? I'd love to use a Hobbyboss but there is no "F" available. Any help is highly appreciated.

The Hobbyboss F-111E is essentially an F with a different cockpit. Reskit does a lot of F-111 parts including cockpits. Academy does an F-111F. It's simpler than the Hobbyboss kit, no separate flaps and slats. Note the F (and RAAF C) carried the Pave Tack, not the E.

The decals will work on both Academy and Hobby Boss kits. The Pave Tack pod is strictly for the Hobby Boss kit. I recommend the Hobby Boss F-111E kit with the Reskit F-111F cockpit set for the Hobby Boss kits.

I love the options KursadA. Very partial to the MO bird, (as the F-15E is my favorite plane, with the 391st being my favorite squadron).

Question on the Hobby Boss kit. The reviews I've read say that the flaps are screwed up. Has there been a fix released/invented for them?

No unfortunately, Apparently the aftermarket ones designed for the Academy kit will fit it though. TBH Id rather add more detail to the Academy kit than fix all the shape problems with the Hobby Boss one. The Reskit canopy correction does add a lot of cost and still doesn't fully address that problem either. The Academy one isn't perfectly accurate either though.
