Trumpeter releasing a whole host of new 1/35 helos in 2025

Recommended Posts

Looks like we have quite a lineup of new mold kits from Trumpeter inbound!

  • Bell UH-1D Huey gunship (armed version of the kit that already released this winter)
  • Boeing ACH-47A Chinook (announced previously, some test build photos already available online)
  • Bell AH-1Z Super Cobra (rumoured, would rival Academy's brilliant offering)
  • Bell UH-1Y Venom (would rival the new UH-1Y coming out from Academy in 2025)
  • Kamov Ka-52 Alligator (finally!)
  • Kamov Ka-52K Katran (navalised version, likely to have folding rotors)

Some more info here, credit to Homebee over at the Britmodellers forum

Say what you will about trumpeter's hit-or-miss quality, but they are keeping this exciting for us 1/35 helo builders for sure. Personally cannot wait to see the Ka-52, that one just has to be done...

The UH-1 kit they released was a B, not a D.  The catalog image in the BM thread also shows the new kit is a B.  Finally getting a new D kit would have been more exciting.

Thanks for clarifying!

With Academy's Zulu as nice as it is, and knowing their upcoming Yankee will be at the same level, I just can't get excited about Trumpeter's offerings.

yeah, personally most interested to see a 1/35 Ka-52 at long last

Huh, so they have.  Cool.

Kind of weird going from a complete dearth of modern Cobra kits to a surplus in the course of a couple years.  I like it.

The person that I understand was doing the design for the UH-1Y (Gustav from Wolfpack Design) also seems to hint at another modern-era Cobra in the works, the canopy looks like the AH-1F/S? But the translation doesn't seem too promising in terms of timelines.

I wanted to finish it before it goes to 2024 but I don't know if it will be done beyond 2025 and 2026 on another design project paper. Might drop from another company before that... 😕

Yes, Gustav designed the UH-1Y, as well as the AH-1Z.

That is an AH-1F/S.  I'm a happy man.

Trumpeter must have bought an Arma Model KA-52 in 1/48 scale and used it to build their 1/35 molds.

Or the Zvezda kit.

Is the ACH-47A a brand new tool? Looks interesting.

LD.

Not brand new.  It’s almost certainly their 1/35 CH-47A kit with new parts.

MH-53M Pave Low for me

I'd love to see a Pave Low as well. Turns out my son's AF JROTC instructor (a retired Colonel) spent almost his entire career in Spec Ops as a Pave Low pilot. He is the smallest, most unassuming guy you'd ever meet...Last guy you'd expect to have been what he was.

I'm still praying for a mainstream MH-47G Chinook myself as well. When you can find a set of Floyd's conversion on Ebay, it fetches quite a pretty penny and has always been out of my reach.

Aaron you are spot on. Just imagine a nice 1/35th scale tricked out Pave Low. As long it is the correct shape etc., (Trumpy has bad history there) it will be killer Helo to build.

I actually just found and bought that last week. Now to buy the printer...

Still would like to see it come out in plastic at some point for the masses.

Let me know how it prints.  I too am interested in getting the files and printing them.

It won't be for a while. I've got no experience with 3d printing or setup, and it looks like the files need some work before they are "print ready". Plus, like I said, I don't actually own a printer yet.

Might be quicker to wait on the plastic. 😁
