Lucky Models credibility problems

Recommended Posts

A dishonest shop/business?
I’m their client for at least 15 years ,many thousand of dollars worth of orders.
I always been patient with their supply delays, sometimes for a very long periods-they always delivered eventually.
Lately there was no shipment available to my country, so I’ve asked a refund for all my delayed orders. That amassed quite a sum.
Since last November they’ve been dragging their feet with different excuses ,even writing to the owner
didn’t solve the problem. Several kits I already bought at different sources, but they insist to pack and prepare, in spite
of my request. I have lost faith in such a business
There’s no practical way to influence them
Just to complain here

How can there be no shipping option? That seems odd.

OP is in Israel, I'm guessing the local situation has impacted shipping/import process.

I've ordered items listed as "in stock 6+".  Took over 2 weeks to ship, and then I asked to cancel.  Then magically before I could get a response it moved to "pack and ship".  But tracking didn't show as active for almost 2 weeks (air mail, so should be relatively quick).  I'll never order from them again.  They're not even that cheap in more.  If you want to save money, you have to use their sea shipping, which is 3-6 months.

yes, sometimes I had to wait up to a year for a paid for item to appear, usually less

there were cases that no items appeared, had to ask for store credit, never asked for refund until recently,

which they reluctant to make

Hi. I don’t recommend to buy from LuckyModels website as they are not honest. Misleading and dishonest about inventory status and don’t respond to request to cancel orders. I have to ask Paypal to get involved. There are far more reliable vendors on Ebay with shipping cost to the US is a few dollars more and get delivered within 2 weeks from mainland China. I ordered the RFM M109A7 on Jan 6 and received it on Jan 21. Shipped from Nanjing 210000 area.

Use to do business with them long time ago but stopped because  business became like a a box of chocolates never knew what you were going to get   whether  the item was in stock or what I would have to pay to ship it . No thanks, If I wanted to gamble , I would just go to Vegas . At least the commission has rules.

Re Surface shipping....My last orders took almost one year to arrive and I still have one item ordered that did not go with the other items and get this it still has not shipped, it's stuck in that full reserve waiting.....  no excuse to not include a normal size kit with the rest of items ordered. LM's shipping is just not organized. One instance I received 2 boxes from the same order on the same day which were shipped with separate postage charges. Thinking likely not the only time this happens and can see why they raised surface shipping. I have been a customer for so many years but the excessive wait times even for Airmail, had a small items shipment take 3 months, are not worth the now insignificant savings. If they get this straight I would return but til then I'll shop elsewhere....Oh and another nail on top of all that they no longer have Tamiya kits. That right there is a reason for me to stop shopping.

I have ordered from luckymodel for many years, with varied results.  It has been my observation that, ever since they announced a new warehouse/shipping concept, things have only gotten worse, not better.

https://doc.luckymodel.com/NL230325-1350/gwhse.html

I have not seen shipping costs or delivery times reduced since then.  In fact, both seem to have increased.

I've also noticed inconsistencies in their shipping rates. For example, I can have side by side browser windows open. In one window I can add two items to my cart, then add a third item. In the other window I can add the same three items, but one at a time. This yields two different shipping quotes.

I know shipping costs are crazy, but I don't encounter these same issues when ordering from other online shops in China, Korea and Japan.

Just my $0.03 (yes everything is more expensive now...)

Dear IAf-man,

Please direct to my raymond@luckymodel.com, i may overlook the email. or missed. Recently i am frequently on the road, so may missed out the request direct from whatspps, messager.

But if you in israeli, all surface mail still suspended from hong kong post.

At present, mails destined for Israel are transited via other postal administrations. As advised by the postal administration of transit postal administrations, due to the persistent impact brought by the events in the region, additional conveyance time are required for transporting mail items. As a result, mail delivery services to Israel are subject to delay.

Dear all long supported fans of Luckymodel in arc,

Just want to take this place to let all of you know what happens, it is a long story and I want to make it short. As I still want to use the time to clear out the mess.

1. We introduce our own shipping system since Cov19 as hk post stop carrying cargo to many pace, so we coload the presold packet together with our Kinetic restock in North America, Canada, UK and Australia, by our own 40'fcl container services.

2. This system started in 2020,2021 where it is the only shipping option to send larget box sized than the limit from post office. Thus, we offer very low rate of shipping $25 flat to US, Canada. Actually, we compensate the shipping by our own kinetic shipping cost. Many times, if you receive the box by UPS, you know the shipping cost is way more than $25.

3. We hope the shipping rate goes down after the cov19 in 2023, seems ok, however, by 2024, things changes rapidly without any clue (the shipping cost from China to west coast budget at USD 3200-3700, but in fact it jumps to USD 12,000 - 14000. we can only get 2 spot rate at 5800 in 2024, we took it and send 2 shipments to NA during the time, where we should send 4 containers instead of 2. 4

4. Thus, a lot of reserved items cannot be loaded as no space left on the container. The last one leave on sept 15 2024 and reaching KS office on 28 Dec 2024 and our team in KS ship out those 16 pallets by end of feb.

The similar case happens on Australia, where the shipping rate goes up the sky roof where we cannot bear the cost anymore even the compenstation from Kinetic cargo shipment.

So we currently suspended the LMSEA (LUCKY SEA) option until we figure out a more accurate method not lose shipping cost while providing the low cost shipping option.

We will use the new api services to get the accurate cost quote base on the USA postal address from our KS office to your place onward.

As for the airmail option, everyone know Luckymodel started from Hong Kong 24 years ago, but you may know that HK has gone a great change. The Hong Kong Post office no longer low cost and fast anymore. In additional, in order to cope with more stock, we move the main warehouse to China since 8 years ago and using a dual warehouse operation to support the operation.

But the dual warehouse approach face problem during cov19 where it basically delay a lot during China->HK custom clearance (even we are in a "single" country).

So, it create a week for delay even we ship and pack the kit in china quickly. But we will use HK post to send the packet out.

Finally, the mess will be over, by June 2025, our HK warehouse will be closed and centralised all activities back in China main office. The 2 major brands will be affected if you notice (AFV Club, Tamiya). Those 2 brands will have only limited supplied from our China warehouse and very limited restock from our HK supplier. We will figure out how to resume those brand later on.

By Feb 2025, we run the test to use China post e-packet directly from China, no more transit to HK via Hong Kong Post anymore. Thus, we save a week for transit from China to HK and forward sending to HK Post. We directly pass the packet to China Post office for outbound. We have some incorrect parameter filled in early feb and now fixed and the first and second batch item leaves without problem. Also, we add the tracking from 17track.net to let you check the details once it has the tracking number.

The China office will take care 95% of the China made product. All packet from China to USA is still under the article 321 for goods under USD 800. For future tariff , we have modified the system to handle the tax collection like the Europe IOSS system.

Thus, we suggest those who would try the new Airmail services for small model kit (LXWXH<90cm) and entitle the China post low cost air mail services where it reach in 14-21 days from the day we pass to China Post. (Almost 40% cut from Hong Kong post mailing rate).

For the oversize packet order (like 1/48 GW-A10), we offer 2 kinds of shipping method - EMS/LUCKY AIR . Where the small packet size option not allow to post a box more than LxWxH > 90cm. We have to push up to EMS shipment by post office (HK or China post the same price), or LUCKY AIR services where we consolidate the order send the order to our KS office in USA and forward to you via UPS. But since Feb 2025, the transit time become unknown as the new US custom boarder clearance is in revision. We have few box of shipment blocked in the custom before leaving to UPS for KS office.

The LUCKY SEA backlog to USA, Canada, instead of sending by our own container to USA or Canada, we will give up this option. Instead we are working out a transport services in China to send a pallet of box to our KS office like our own container before. But no need to wait 20 pallets to ship. Instead we will send a pallet every week. to avoid further delay. The first 2 pallets has departed from our China office and see the transit time to KS (around 65 days)

In addition to the major changes in LuckyModel China operation, we also add the LuckyModel UK to support our global shipment. Some of you may already notice the Eduard accessories has been stocked up in UK office and filled from their to any order in the world. We will continue to expand the stock range in UK from our European supplier.

For those customer in EU, we have finally established the IOSS entries and you should not concern the custom handling fees. Your order will either be handle from LuckyModel HQ /China or LM UK via the IOSS entries.

IN short this is a continue changes in logistics since 2021-2024 challenge for us, and we finally see the light on the end of the changes and next we try to restore the performance on shipping, packing and thank you for all the trust and tolerance with us during the time of transit.

For anyone who does not satify the CS reply/services, please email me at raymond@luckymodel.com and i will take care one by one for you (even it will take me a little time to response)

Regards

Raymond

FWIW, the overseas warehouses seem to stock Kinetic, mostly (plus a smattering of Border/Rye Field tanks and some paint), so most orders are probably still shipping from China.

I'm also confused by the warehouses.  I ordered a Kinetic Kfir C.10.  The US warehouse was out of stock, but Canada had it listed.  I ordered from there on 2/26 and selected the "Air Mail" option quoted at $15.20 (seemed like a real bargain).  I got an email confirmation and zero communication after that.  Today, a box arrived, from Luckymodel China with said Kfir.  I never received a tracking number, and it didn't autopopulate into my USPS informed delivery app, so it was a surprise when it showed up.  I got what I ordered, in a fairly timely manner, but their system could use some work.

But I selected the Canada warehouse when purchasing, so how did the order end up coming from China?  It also showed UPS as a shipping option, for even cheaper, but would not let me select it later on during the checkout process.

If the Canada warehouse run out of stock it will be filled from China office. UPS IS ONLY for USA site not Canada.

if you select a shipping option only for local country the system will check if the item in stock or not, if not it will avoid you to place the order
