KursadA
AF named the OA-1K "Skyraider II": https://www.airandspaceforces.com/air-force-oa-1k-skyraider-ii/?src=dr Edited February 28 by KursadA
ST0RM
I don't see it living long enough, operationally, to gain much notoriety. I fail to see how the OA-1K was better than the AT-6 or A-29B.

andyf117
Unfamiliar with the program, saw the pic, immediately thought "looks like a crop duster"... ....which a few minutes' research then revealed is because it's basically exactly what it is!
A-10 LOADER
"I fail to see how the OA-1K was better than the AT-6 or A-29B". Politics made that decision Storm. Back in August of 2023 there was a article that I read that said Davis-Monthan AFB is becoming a AFSOC Wing, 492nd SOW. They are supposed to have a squadron of the "armored crop duster" along with 2 MC-130J Squadrons. The 34th Weapons Squadron and the 88th Test and Evaluation Squadron will relocate from Nellis to DM with 5 HH-60W's and, sadly the A-10's will be retired. Steve Kansas Congressional Delegation constantly slow rolled SOCOM's efforts. We originally picked the Super Tucano, but couldn't get permission to buy.
Dutch
I'm sorry, it isn't a Skyraider, nor the son of a Skyraider, no matter what. I feel somehow defiled! Edited March 4 by Dutch

Dutch, maybe it's "The Drone From Hell"! Why not just hang water balloons from an old '50s era Piper Cub? Edited March 4 by jonwinn kant spel gud

ReccePhreak
I heard that the first ones will be WOKE-Camouflaged in Pink & Light Blue.
Mr.Happy
Please USAF don’t call it The Skyraider II. It would be an insult to the original one and only Skyraider. Nuff said. 😑

strikeeagle801
I find it hard to take something that looks like Dusty in the Planes movie seriously, no matter what they call it.

I think I'll call it the OA-29D Bronco II. Planning on arming her with LAU-68 F/A APKWS pods and a couple Hellfires... -Ski
Dutch
Ski, Not too far-fetched idea there! I like it! Certainly more logical than the Air Tractor entry. You have my vote! S/f, Dutch
