strikeeagle801
Hello everyone. I still use a bottle of Model Master liquid cement, but it is running low. I have some Tamiya Extra Thin, but I'm looking for something closer to the MM stuff I'm using. Any recommendations? Aaron
airmechaja
I like Flex-I-File, Plast-I-Weld. You have to supply a applicator. Micro brush works great.
wxltcol
I still use that and get it at Hobby Lobby.
strikeeagle801
Huh. I'll have to go check again. I thought that because it was Model Master that it got discontinued. I looked online, Amazon and Ebay and couldn't find it anywhere. I like using the needle tip. The other ones I've seen from Testors have a plastic tip, more like CA bottles Aaron
wxltcol
Oops! Sorry! I just checked and it's actually Testors glue I bought, but it's in the black Model Master container. Wonder if MM was Testors glue under that name? Just don't know. I'm still on my MM glue. Sorry! Tom
LDM
I personally seem to use Tamiya for everything now but if you want something similar to the MM liquid cement try Revell Contacta Professional. It has the same needle applicator and seems similar in consistency and use in my experience. I picked up my bottle from Sprue Brothers but even Amazon has it for a little more money. Geoff M
I use flexi file touch and flow applicators and MEK as a solvent.
herbarnold99
Also a MEK user. Works great.
wxltcol
Tomcat fan, I think that's methyl ethyl ketone (nasty smelling stuff!).

Geoff M
Aren't they all nasty smelling?
wxltcol
I think MEK is worse smelling than others...
habu2
If you can't smell it then it's probably not working.

RedHeadKevin
I just started using Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner as cement. It's basically the same thing as Extra-Thin, but only about a quarter of the price.

I went to Hobbytown today to get Revell Contacta, and the guy I usually talk to about models told me the same thing! Aaron
Geoff M
15 hours ago, wxltcol said: I think MEK is worse smelling than others... I keep a small bottle of MEK on my desk for refilling my touch and flow applicator. It is capped when not in use. The applicator holds a very small amount and is completely contained so there really is very little odor even when applying to the model.
ReccePhreak
My MAIN go-to liquid cement is still Testors Liquid Cement for Plastics (3520XT). I also use STYRENE TACK-IT II, which is renamed Tenax 7R. A couple of others on my hobby bench are Plastruct Plastic Weld & Plastruct Bondene. Don't know if those 2 are still available. phantom
Old school Testors red tube cement. Worked for me in the 70's, still works now.

phantom
Only people I ever saw smell that used a plastic bag at the same time. Never really noticed a smell.

Camus272
I believe the liquid cement is still being sold (saw some at the store the other day) - it's just branded Testors, not Model Master. It's available at Sprue Brothers.
