1948 Thames Woody

Recommended Posts

This was started after seeing a photo of a Thames Woody.

There is no kit available, but Revell has a stripped-down dragster version of a Thames van.

I kept the body shell and tossed everything else in the parts bin.

Then while cutting side windows and framing the body up to make a woody version of the panel van, I began a search online for details on the stock engine and drivetrain.

The engine was the hardest part...modified a Revell 4 banger to fit.

You did a fantastic job on it. Love how well you simulated the wood grain. Like seeing projects like this.

Thanks Robert....it was a long project....glad to finally get it done.

If I was to do it again, I would make the door hinges from brass...the plastic kit hinges are oversized but still weak and broke several times
