Dutch
Does anyone have a drawing for the inverted "Y" shaped centerline bomb rack on this Qatari Mirage F.1EDA circa Desert Storm? Apparently, it can hold 4x 500lb bombs as seen here. V/r, Dutch
barkin mad
If it's any help, and 1/72 scale, there is one in the old Airfix F.1 kit..............
Dutch
Thanks. I don't have that kit, just the Hasegawa & ESCI kits in 1/72 scale. I was wanting to add the bomb rack to a 1/144 Mirage F.1C kit with Qatari decals. Maybe it will not be too difficult to scratch build from plasticard. barkin mad
No problem, dimensions of the 1/72 are ov length of 53mm by 9mm wide, angles of the 2 arms is approx 10 deg. (though from looking at your pics, the kit part is a bit less angled. A/C in your pic, the angle looks somewhere around the 20-30deg mark. I guess in 1/144 scale a simple eyeball it will suffice) --------------
Niels
Have you tried to reach out to L'Arsenal? They have one in 1/48 and might have one in 1/72? Bomb Launcher Pylon CLB-4, L'Arsenal AC 48
Niels
Another alternative in 1/72: Mirage F1AZ 14 Bomb Configuration Pylons, Shapeways 2FMNAHM6S (201x)
Dutch
@NielsThanks Niels, I had not thought to look at 3D printed items. I will see what I can find. Hmmm, apparently my Shapeways login no longer works. and search results yield zippo. @barkin mad And I just figured out that the Heller kit also has the rack and I have one in the stash somewhere. So I will use the 1/72 Heller bomb rack as a template for scratching a 1/144 version. Edited April 21 by Dutch
bluedot25 Posted yesterday at 03:52 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:52 AM (edited) Well, since Dutch brought it up..! I’ve started working on the Airfix pylon to attach to a Special Hobby kit. But I’m curious to know a couple things about the CLB-4 rack… 1) Who developed it? Is it a a French product? South African? 2) What air forces used it besides Qatar, South Africa, and Spain?
