What's going on with Shipping

Recommended Posts

I have been in the shipping industry for almost 38 years and never seen anything like what is happing lately with the new administration.  If you want to get a good perspective on what's going on with the supply chain from China, follow the YouTube channel below for the latest, it's pretty informative. I work for a large company; we are even getting dizzy with all the craziness going on.

I have noticed (last month) stuff I was shipping is taking WAY longer then it used to from the Canada to the US . It seemed that the delay was in US customs. About a week to 2 weeks for decals to get out of the customs area and on to USPS.

Once it got out of customs everything arrived as expected. Just a week to two weeks later then normal.

It actually started right after the Christmas rush.  Several weeks before the new administration.   It was like when everyone came back to work on Jan 2, everything must be delivered 2-7 days late.   I noticed it immediately.  About the only thing on time is Amazon deliveries.  Contract specifies Amazon shipments get loaded first, anything else is space available.  (Postal employee posted this on another forum I’m on)

That’s why I always try to ship things in used Amazon boxes.

It's been my recent experience that USPS domestic shipping is way, way behind set expectations.  Shipping one kit via Priority Mail, Virginia to New Hampshire, took a week to get here.  At this time, I am still awaiting a package which was sent 1st Class from Ft. Worth, TX on April 15.  All the USPS website says is "In transit to next facility. Arriving late".

Really?

Aargh!!!

Mine was suppose to go from New Jersey to me in Florida. It went to NYC, then Maine, then California then Texas then Jacksonville Florida then finally to me in Clearwater Florida. This was an E Bay deal last year.

Had something shipped from Sprue Brothers' eBay through USPS. It shipped Wednesday, arrived at the regional facility on Friday, so you'd think "great, I'll get it Saturday at the latest". Instead it sat all weekend and is out for delivery today.

Hi Darren,

Wow... :gr_eek2: Could it be that they were making it on purpose? :hmmm:

I just learnt that the locals down here are slacking on the deliveries on purpose because the new president threatened to privatise the post.

Cheers,

I ordered something from Sprue Bros and it went all the way out to California and back. It took almost three weeks for it to be delivered. Here's the kicker....I live in the same city as Sprue Bros.!!!!!!!!!

Dang, that’s crazy Darren. Should have done a pickup.

A first for me, I following a USPS package and got a Missing Mail Search Request Notice.

Hope they can “find” it and not “lost” to carelessness.
