Raptor.777
Is the Growler capable of using this next generation anti radiation missile? Got a set from BAM models before he stopped shipping to US. Here's another ?. I recently ordered from Reedoak a couple 1/48 pilots. He to is in France just like Bam models is. Why is Reedoak able to ship from France to US but not Bam models? strikeeagle801
Yes, the Growler can carry and shoot the AGM-88E. In fact, a Growler launched one and hit a helicopter in Yemen last year. As well as anti-radiation, the AGM-88E has the ability to track on coordinates as well as radar signals, allowing it to engage moving and time-sensitive targets. https://www.twz.com/air/ea-18g-growler-killed-a-houthi-mi-24-hind-with-an-agm-88e-anti-radiation-missile
GW8345
The AGM-88E AARGM and AARGM-ER are different from one another, they are not the same missile.

Yes, I am talking the new one. It has horizontal strakes running down the length of the missile and fins in the rear of it Jeff
strikeeagle801
My mistake. Here is a shot with the AARGM-ER loaded on a Super Hornet. The Google summary (not always the most reliable source, I know) says it can be launched by the Growler and F-35 as well. I believe that was one of the focuses of the program, to carry and launch the missile from the internal weapons bay of the F-35. Not only the kill mark but also the call sign of the EWO is something special. B/r Michael

He didn't just stop shipping to the US. Apparently France imposed new taxes on small businesses that made it unviable for him to stay in operation so he shut down all together. You can still order some of his remaining inventory until it's all gone, and I just did so with no apparent problems shipping to a US address.
schottenbazi
As you can read on his website BAM stopped operations as of Feb 15th 2025 10AM Central European Time. BAM is still open for the time being though: Items still showing are the last remaining ones and will ship as usual. There will be no backorders, once they're gone they're gone! GW8345
A little insight about what can be carried on a jet; Just because you see a picture of a weapon or store being flown on a certain type of aircraft (i.e. platform) doesn't mean it's cleared for the whole platform (i.e. all aircraft in the platform). Weapon/stores have to be tested before they are cleared for the the whole platform, this starts of with the weapon/store being cleared for just a select few aircraft in the platform for testing (usually test squadron aircraft). Once testing is completed it is often tested in the fleet so only certain aircraft or squadron(s) will be cleared for that weapon/store for fleet testing purposes. Once that is completed it is recommend to be cleared for the whole platform but it is up to COMNAVAIRFOR (CNAF) to authorize it to be cleared for the whole platform or just certain squadrons/aircraft. Most of the time it's cleared for the whole platform but there are times only certain squadrons are authorized to carry/employ the weapon/store. So, just because you see a pic a test squadron flying something doesn't mean the fleet is flying it. 😉 hth GW
