An easy way to add Thermal Protective coating to Navy/Marine Corps bombs

Recommended Posts

For those of you looking for a simple, easy way to replicate the thermally protective coating on Navy/Marine Corps ship-board bombs, give this stuff a try.

I masked off the nose area and the hardback, then gave these (they are 48th scale GBU-24's from Reskit) a couple of quick shots of Rustoleum multicolor textured paint.

Let it dry, remove the masking, and paint over the texture with the Light Ghost Gray (or Olive Drab as the case may be) of your choice.

Done, son!

I believe that Dave Roof suggested something like this in another thread, but the Photobucket link to his picture is broken.
