Chris_Teet
My name is Chris Teet, I'm from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and below is my second of two submissions for this group build. The kit is the 1/48th Revell/Monogram F/A-18C Hornet, kit #4821. The decals are out of the box, portraying aircraft 301 belonging to CDR. Gary Koger, Commanding Officer of VF-113 'Stingers' during thier deployment on the USS Independence during Operation Desert Shield (this kit also includes decals for the CAG bird of VFA-105 'Gunslingers' while onboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower). The kit is pretty much built OOB, with the exception of the cluster bombs and the AIM-7 Sparrows which I took from the Hobbycraft A-10A and the R/M F-15C, respectively, using anti-sway braces from the Blue Angels Hornet I just submitted for the cluster bombs. The paints, as with the Blue Angels Hornet, are a combination of Model Masters and Testors paints. This is my first bug, and has been sitting on my bench for 3 or 4 years now, and this build gave me the motivation to finish it, just like the Blue Angels Hornet. I originally planned to put AMRAAMs on the fuselage mounts, but was informed that it would have been inaccurate for this Hornet. The only problem with this kit is that with the pilot figure in place, the canopy doesn't sit exactly flush with the fuselage, and one of the pitot tubes was accidentally broken off and lost. Interestingly, this kit has the exact same molding as the Blue Angels hornet, right down to the last detail, only difference is the box, decals, instructions, and the color of the plastic.
