Hi Steve,

Nice progress so far.

BTW, what this means:  'Still slowly chipping away at the ole' girl when I can find the time.' I mean 'ole' girl'.

Cheers!

Alexander

Hello Alexander.

Good to see you here.

Steve means that he is still slowly working away on his Strike Eagle.

"Ole Girl" ... he is referring the aircraft as OLD GIRL as most Aircrafts are considered to be 'female'.

Its a term of affection.

Hi HOLMES,

Thank you much for explanation.

I'm gonna put this one to my bank of new English words and expressions. 😉

Cheers!

Perfect..

You can say "I'm  chipping away  slowly " for most  things one works on.

Clearing icy footpath for example.

yes you have to put that one in your bank of new English  expression  Alexander.

:thumbsup2:

I need help from the Strike Eagle experts.

My build is from the 2007 timeframe so, what rim face would be correct ? I'm guessing "B" ?  I know "C" is late and I'd assume "A" is early.

Here's a pic from Flickr that shows 90-0257 in 2010: https://www.flickr.com/photos/68498610@N03/52524433777/. It looks to be the "Type A" that you show above.  It's definitely not "C" and I don't see the bolt heads that "B" has.

This earlier photo from 2006 isn't as closeup on the landing gear but appears to be the same wheel: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/5921534

Early Christmas gift from a buddy of mine at the model meeting yesterday. Not sure how he was able to get it but, glad he did.

Hopefully the seam on the bomb body is fixed this time🤞. This all could have been eliminated if RES/KIT would have just made the tail fin assembly and the bomb body separate pieces. Also would have made painting a lot easier too, now I have to do a lot of masking.

I'd go with A. The 3d-Chute stuff is great. Every time I've ordered direct from them, there's been an extra "sample" in with it.

I'm building the ResKit GBU-24A/B in both 48th and 32nd scale right now (damn, them boys is big!) and they have the tail piece separated right at the base, so I don't know what the were thinking with the older style ones you're building.

I was able to get some things accomplished since my last post.

I got the seam on the bomb body taken care of and sprayed the blue, now I'll have to do masking to paint the tail fin assembly.

Decided to open up this can of worms, tail rudders cut out using a jeweler's saw and X-ACTO knife. Added some plastic at the bottom of the starboard rudder and bottom edge of the port tail because my cuts were a little off. I'll put two pins in each rudder so I can position them slightly one way or the other. I'll also be adding the "bulges" to the rudders as these were added for strengthening purposes.

Wrapped up the Eduard AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN pod and the Hasegawa SNIPER pod. I'll glue the Sniper pod to the pylon at the end of the build. I still have some work to do on the missiles and ACMI pod. Once they are finished I'll focus on getting the GBU-24's wrapped up.

Thanks to those who still check in and are following along.

Finished up the Flight Line Resin missiles and the AFV Club ACMI pod today. For the CATM-9L/M drops of liquid CA were built up to replicate the seeker head. I then painted it with light gray to give it that "milky" look. Two Bob's missile markings and the AFV Club decals for the ACMI pod brought everything to life.

Nothing here is glued, it's all held together with brass pins. I still need to "weather" up the missiles and ACMI pod yet for everything to be finished.

Those look great Steve. What blue did you use for the bodies? I've got Tamiya's 72nd F-14D on the way and I'm going with the Black Bunny decals and a training/test loadout for it.

Aaron

Thanks Aaron, it's Model Master FS 35109. Thanks for checking in.

Steve,

Meticulous  and methodical  work.

Very IMPRESSIVE  indeed.

The weaponary/ordnance  looks TOP NOTCH.

:smiley-whacky084:

And nice to see you on BM too.{ HOUSTON over on BM }

:coolio:

Thanks Holmes. I had planned to decal the bombs today but, one slipped out of my hands and a rear wing snapped off 🤬. Fortunately I had purchased another set because I broke two of the forward fins getting them off their print trees, RES/KIT only gives you 8, no extras. So now I'll get the other to the point of decals so I can proceed.

Damage from this morning leading me to build up two more GBU's 😡. I only need one with the other one for "just in case".

Added some strengthening plates to the tails with .010" plastic. The plates on the rudders were shaped and sanded, using .015" plastic, before gluing them on. Each rudder has two pins so I could turn them slightly to the port side for some visual interest.
