Da SWO
I saw the MQ-20 Avenger thread and cruised over to the Downen Scaled Replicas website. There I saw his RQ-3A Darkstar, told myself I'd get it someday. Was getting frustrated with my Harrier build (two steps forwards, one step back thing) and needed a mojo fix. I kept going back to the DSR webpage, and thought now would be a good time to get something that can be built quickly. 7 pieces, they fit fairly well (minimum amount of sanding required). The RQ-3 Darkstar was a DARPA failure. Prototype crashed on it's second flight due to instability, modifications were made and three additional RQ-3A (as the modified aircraft were designated) were built. #2 flew five additional test flights before the program was cancelled. #3 and #4 never flew as they were delivered after program cancellation. I built mine as a "what if". TT markings for Tonopah Test range, with a fictitious serial number. This was fun build, and finally finishing a build feels good.
habu2
One of the surviving ones is on display at the USAF Museum in Dayton. It’s hanging from the ceiling so you can’t really get decent pics of it. Their website has several photos: https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/195774/lockheed-martin-rq-3-darkstar/
Trojan Thunder
Never heard of this one, nicely built though. An interesting addition to your collection.
