A-10C 75th FS "Flying Tiger" (1/48, G.W.H. + aftermarket)

Recommended Posts

Here is my finished A-10C from the 75th FS "Flying Tigers" in the 2017 memorial livery.

It is the GWH kit with aftermarket details:

  • Decals: Caracal Models
  • Ejection seat: Minicraft Model Collection
  • Cockpit detail: Quinta Studio
  • Gun nozzle: Art Scale Kit
  • Landing Gear: Detail & Wonder Studio
  • HUD: Eduard
  • Pylons: Phase Hangar Resin

Ordnance

  • GBU-31, GBU-38, GBU-54, Dual Rail Adapter: Reskit
  • AGM-65: Eduard
  • AIM-9, LIGHTNING pod, GBU-12: from the Tamiya F-16 kit

It probably never flew with live ordnance, since I think the aircraft was never deployed with this scheme, but that is some artistic licence 😉

Here is the WIP-thread:

I've got the Reskit cockpit and landing gear, so we'll see how that goes.

I would have used the Reskit cockpit, but it was released as I had already sealed up the fuselage. But I am very satisfied with the Quinta set and the MCC seat.

Thank you for your positive comments.

Cheers,

Markus

That's the way of the modeling world, isn't it? Get something done, and something for it comes along right after! Oh well, you did a fantastic job with what you had.

That is the story of this build, which started as a Hobbyboss build, for which I bought a lot of Phase Hangar Resin conversion stuff. Then the GWH kit, was released, and since my time budget is rather constrained, I decided to ditch the HB kit, and a lot of the resin stuff, because the GWH kit was much easier to assemble, and even with all the resin stuff, seemed like the more detailed build. (raised rivets!)

I only regret the money spent on the PHR stuff, but not the decision to build the GWH kit instead. That is also the reason, why I used the resin pylons.
