volzj
First, let me say that this is a neat little kit. Going together well on the subassemblies I've done so far, and it has excellent detail. Here's the completed interior, just needs a dullcoat and I can close her up.
Albert Moore
Hi Joe, Nice start on the Merlin. Look forward to seeing the full build (helos are my main interest outside of Israeli aircraft and the F-16). I'd like to build a what-if 160th SOAR(A) EH-101, seeing as the US-101 is in competition with a Sikorsky entry for the next Presidential helo (and possible CSAR/Spec Ops helicopter in USAF). Sean Bratton
Nice build so far, Joe! I think the interior looks real sharp. Cheers,
Ken Middleton
nice job Joe, man, you are a building machine! That interior sort of looks like my minivan.....
volzj
Thanks guys. Albert: I remeber seeing a nice article reference the Merlin and the competition for the US helo biz. in Air Combat. Good stuff if you can find the article. Mike: The belts are decals. Nice touch by Revell to include them, and they're quite good. Ken: Betcha can't drop sonobouys from your minvan though. Pinky coffeeboat
Hello volzj, This may be a bit too late but I'm curious as to why you deviated from Revells painting guide for the seats of the Merlin? As Revell state, the seats in the back are coloured black (these are basically sheet metal wrapped around a frame with a flimsy headrest). The seat belts are black also - just like in a car! The cockpit and observers seats are black composite "buckets" with black cloth covered foam cushions for aircrew comfort! (they are interchangable). The whole cockpit is coloured black with black instrument panels (this applies to both front and rear aircrew instrument panels). Come on Merlin101, have you ever seen a Merlin?! Volzj, if you have any questions about the Merlin come and ask me first!!
