http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/ - Now with the addition of this Forum, the best place to start looking. (Was that a good enough bribe Steve?)

http://www.aeroplanebooks.com/ - Lots of old and out of publication books.

http://www.wwimodeler.com/harry/contents.htm - The Bible of scratchbuilding. I use this all the time for reference.

http://www.windsockdatafilespecials.com/index2.html - One of the best sources for WW 1 aircraft. Datafiles are legendary for content.

http://www.linkny.com/~curtiss/index.html - Website for the Glen Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport NY.

http://www.aeroclub-models.com/Aeroclub/index.html - Huge source of WW1 and prewar kits and aftermarket. Great shipping times to the US from the UK too.

http://www.enginehistory.org/ - Great site for Aero engines. Some pics are free, others can be purchased.

http://www.classicairframes.com/index.htm - Jules played a large part in getting the ball rolling in the sudden explosion of kits of aircraft of this era. Thank you Jules!

http://www.amug.org/~copperst/main.html - Eric has some of the best, if not THE best, multimedia resin kits on the market of WW1 aircraft, and some beautiful detail sets.... and he's a heluva nice guy to deal with to boot.

http://members.rogers.com/ww1aircraftdrawings/ - A great collection of drawings, put onto a CD, available for purchace, and well worth the price.

http://www.udisco.com/hobbies/inv/EVERGR.HTM - The best source I've found ( other than your local hobby shop if they carry it ) for Evergreen Plastic shapes and sheet.

http://www.collectors-edition.com/f-t-s_titel_english.htm - A great site for German WW1 Aircraft.

http://www.hobbyshop.cz/inshop/shop.asp?partnerID=im - These fine foilks carry a huge assortment of Eduard, Part, and other detail sets and kits, and the prices are wonderful.

http://www.jastaboelcke.de/ A great site for German WW1 aviation

http://www.mcmaster.com/ - Not exactly a hobbysite, but a grteat source for hypo tubing and other neat little "fiddly-bits".

http://www.micromark.com/ - Nice source for modeling tools and supplies. I recommend their Starter Resin Casting kit.

http://www.nasm.si.edu/research/arch/colle...epsets_list.cfm - A great source for drawings, tech help, publications. Fee based.

http://www.seawings.co.uk/ - Bryan does a great job with this site. Lots of early Flying Boat stuff here.

http://sierrascale.home.insightbb.com/ - If you like esoteric subjects these are the folks to talk to. Great kits and service.

http://www.theaerodrome.com/ - A nice WW1 Aviation Discussion board.

http://www.tomsmodelworks.com/ - Tom has a nice line of detail sets for older aircraft, and his prices are reasonable.

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/colorcharts.asp - A great resource for color matching.

http://www.flying-machines.com/ - Another site for WW 1 books. If youlike Austro Hungarian machines this is the place to go.

http://www.naval-air.org/ - My Mecca. Lots of stuff ehre for early US Naval Aviation.

http://www.wildbluemodels.com/ - Putting this here in hope Pete will carry more early stuff.. .(hint hint) His prices are great and he's a swell guy to boot... and the beer is always cold

http://www.greatwardifferent.com/Great_War...ne_Color_00.htm -- WW 1 in color. Not retouched pictures, but actual photos. Great stuff here.

http://www.wwi-models.org/ - Your one-stop for anything WW1 related. Great bunch of guys to corrospond with.

http://www.wwiaviation.com/ - Another nice site for WW1 aviation.

Have fun browsing, and feel free to add to the list if you have any favorites.

Cheers

Mike

All: This is a great list of references! Any chance of getting this pinned so that it does not get lost in the shuffle?

Glad to see that this topic became a forum. It looks like I have another forum to regularly check in on!

Mike

Good idea...thread is pinned.

Here are a couple of odd ones I like especially.

The first is a site dedicated to biplane survivals into WWII, and has a great deal of useful information:

http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/index.html

The second is a Chinese gentleman's modeling site, in which he displays a wide variety of models, and it contains links to a second site of his that is sometimes difficult to find in operation, called "China Early Aircraft" that has just about every available photograph of airplanes operated in China before WWII. I have included herre as a second link the one that most frequently woks to that latter site, but links to it are present on the "Modeling" site.

Here are some Yahoo Groups that cater to "our" area of modeling:

Golden Age:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/golden-age/

GA Military:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gamilitary/

USN Aircraft 1911-1941:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/USNAircraft1911-1941/

Air Corps Aircraft:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AirCorpsAircraft/

Note that for most (all?) of them you have to have a Yahoo account. There may be more, but these are the ones I subscribe to. What I really like about the last two especially is that there is a lot of photo sharing between members.
