Any of them hard as rock when dry? I dont like using that testors putty and dont want anything like it either...the tamiya resin putty was perfect but hard to shape beforehand.

Squadron isn't rock hard, but it's hard enough that you can paint right over it. Some of the putties are so porous, that you have to prime first.

Brett, that Lancer looks awesome.

I'm glad someone is using the Eduard burner cans. Most people want the Cutting Edge ones and usually pay a small fortune for them, but I'm partial to the Eduard ones.

They are aggravating as all get out, but they look awesome when done right.

Hopefully Two Mikes will do their burner cans soon and save everyone the Eduard burner can blues.

BTW.....your bomb bays look absolutely beautiful.

I applied the two Bobs decals yesterday. They went on great. The only problem was there was not enough rescue arrows. I had to use the ones that came with the kit. Oh well. I'm applying future today, then dullcoat tomorrow.

Loks great Brett. :worship:

Cheers

Just a small update. We've finally goten seatled in here at Las Vegas. I'm working on getting a corner of the garage set up so I can start casting again. I'm also working on updating the website, to include a shopping cart and the ability to accept credit cards. I'm still waiting for a few things to clear up ont hat front, but hopefully I should be able to re-open by mid March. I apologize for the delays.

Question for you Rob. When you attached the upper and lower fuselage together, were you able to get the posts for the wings together? I've got mine clamped right now, but I'm not even sure they are contacting top to bottom. Does that even make sense.

Thanks for the update on Shull, not too much longer now.

Hi Bret,

When I attached the top and bottom, I thought the wing pivot posts were fitting tightly, but when I unclamped it the next day, the wings sagged and when I pushed the two halfs together, they would come back up. I ended up grinding a hole on the top skin right at the pivot, clamping the skins together again, then I applied some thick CA, hit it with the accelorator, and it was fixed. I plugged the hole with stryne and putty. Hope that helps.

i just received the metal landing gear today...

1. i was under the impression these were made of die cast white steel, they are made of pewter or 1199 aluminum....really soft.

2. the nose gear wont be able to swivel, because you have to drill a hole in the strut to fit the nose wheel in place, not self securing like the kits.

3. be prepared for excessive molding, need a good soft dremel bit to sand and grind away excess material...

4. the molding wasnt great, there are spots that need putty or some sort of filler...there are depressions in the MLG bogies.

5. they need to be polished.

i figure someone just put the partially assembled parts in the mold without sanding down the seams beforehand. the bogies should be reamed out before installing the wheels and axles...the metal is easily cold worked so a buffing wheel should be used for sanding down and polishing. i guess a soldering iron would be perfect for assembly, just have to be careful. ill be using super glue used for pewter to assemble. these are delicate but possibly better than working the plastic ones over and over. ill post pics soon...
