Don RD
WOW! Just what I was needing to see! Looks like I got a ton of scratch building to do with the wings now. Looks like Ill have to special order the book from my hobby store. Figured that you would like those photos. I hesitated posting the photos; don't know if there are any copyright violation considerations. But if it spurs you to purchase your own copy of the book (and it is a great reference for the Bone and you should have your own copy), then I'll argue to Mr. Peeters that it was good advertising. Will be watching how your scratch building progresses. Don
utley
i special ordered it today...man hue been missing out on this. i just might do the spoilers too. wish my hands were steady enough to super detail the landing gear like mark did with his, and these SAC landing gears is a pain to even work with. Don RD
... and these SAC landing gears is a pain to even work with. Oh don't tell me that; I've already got a set. Figured that this was going to be one heavy model so metal landing gear was desired. What problems are you having with the SAC gear? Don
utley
Too many pieces, too soft a metal, the smaller parts Dont fit or line up in their notches, a lot of detail was lost in the molding...ill stick to the plastic stuff.
richter111
Not good to hear about the SAC landing gear, I wonder how good it will be on my 1/32 F-105? Anyone use it on that bird yet?

M&M
for those looking for burnercans from CE I found these on EVILBAY. Sell within in 5 hours 52$ seems affordable http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...E:B:WNA:NL:1123 rob

I had them for my F-105 and ended up throwing them out. Poor casting. Details were light to begin with and after cleaning them, there was none.
Brett M
Quick updates..... Some shots of the finished engine nacelles (minus RCS vanes still) Random foot
Don RD
Brett, How fragile are those Eduard cans once assembled? I'm gearing up to start my build and was not sure if it would be wiser to attach them near the end of assembly to prevent me from dinging them. Also, from what I understand, you painted the insides of the engine nacelles just by taping off the ends and filling with white housepaint? Don

Don Hey Don They're pretty fragile actually, as I found out the hard way. I popped off an actuator rod, which thankfully didn't end up in the carpet! For me, I figured that I would get them installed in the nacelles since I won't be attaching those until the very end of the build, so they should be safe. As for the intakes, yep normal household latex paint. I smoothed the seams as best I could before filling them up, the paint took care of the rest. It also provides a nice crisp paint line. The only thing I wish I'd done different would be to use a cream or off white, instead of bright white. But, live and learn!. Hope that helps in your work Brett Edited May 21, 2010 by Brett M
Brett M
Some somewhat better pics. My camera is dying and had a hard time focusing...... Belly, which hopefully will look like the belly in the pic below this. I'll mask it off tomorrow. Front end, nose cone masked and the sides......anyone know why the area I have masked are always a different color grey? And.....tale!

From the Daco book, the dark panels on the fuselage are access panels to the radio frequency surveillance and electronic countermeasures systems. There should be slanted antennas for these systems on the fuselage just above the access panels. Don
utley
My DACO Came in today i can't believe i never had this book before! the flaps are almost identical to the flaps i work on on the C-130. Aside from all the materials i have now im going to put my bomber on the shelf for another month until 2Mikes come out with their new bomb bay set.

I think that I'll be doing alot of living and learning with this project. :) But what's life without a little challenge. Utley, I thought that you would be impressed with this book. A great resource for Bone builders. My plan is to use the auxillary fuel tank to scratch two TMDs and mount a rotary launcher in the third bay. If the scratch building fails, I'll default to the 2Mikes. Same for the exhaust cans. First try will be the Eduard set and if I screw that up, I'm hoping the recent rumor that Aires is going to release a resin set is true. Don
RedHeadKevin
Quick Q about Brett's 2nd picture up above: Is it me, or does that look like an intake cover on the engine of the photo plane?
Brett M
So I decided to run up to the Hill Aerospace Museum with my daughter today. Breezy, rainy and definitely not warm, but we made the best of it!
utley
im going to do the same method with the auxiliary tanks too but i want at least 1 rotary launcher full of JDAMS. I still need more CBU canisters for the conventional bomb bays.

Yep, they actually had 2 up there. Both in doors thankfully so they're in good shape. They have a B-29 out by the B-52G......the 29 needs some serious buffing.

Brett M
So, apparently I can't apply decals correctly. I just noticed while I was taking some pictures that I reversed one.....see if you see it. Here's how she's sitting right now. All upper decals are on, I just need to flip the plane upside down and do all the lowers, then I'll gloss coat it to seal everything in. So far so good...other than that decal.

Background decal is upside down. Those 2 part decals can sometimes be a pain. Maybe someone is planning to use one of the other squadron symbols from the TwoBobs sheet for their build and can spare a copy. But overall, it's coming along nicely. I didn't even notice when I was putting on the second decal, which surprised me even more when I was looking at the pictures. ! Zoned out I guess! Here's a pic of the Bone next to my other Strike......I'd take it outside, but it's snowing.....at the end of May....and I live in a desert.
