old dumb question, but im rebuilding the flaps now turning them into air foils and installing some slots for the actuators. do the real flaps have a lip where the spoilers lay flat? i cant tell from the daco book.

No, they don't. When closed the spoilers are pretty close to the flaps, but they don't actually touch.

good to know! got a long road ahead on them, i still have major issues with that seam on the wing. guess ill have to break out the c clamps. i can theoretically clamp a flat bar stock and apply pressure to the seam to get it flattened out if i place them both in almost boiling water, think ill try that this weekend. hope it dont destroy the milliput...

well it warped the trailing edge of one of them...i couldnt correct it before it broke in half, so im going to butcher my other sets and scratch build each segment individually.

I was thinking about building this kit but there seems to be two differnt kits one is in a blue box with the B-1 in two tone camo. The second kit box art has the B-1 in afterburner with a dark sky behind with some clouds Product Number (RMX855714). Both are 1/48 Revell I was just wondering what's the differnce between these kits and which one is better to buy?

They are both the same with the only differences between the 2 are that the newer one comes with different decals and the landing gear tires are plastic. I have em both, and the parts are identical.

since nats is over, has anyone heard about the twomikes bomb bay set? im going to just use the stock bays if they arent going to be released any time soon...

Sadly no. I havent heard anything about anything for the 1/72 and as a matter of fact nothing about anything in 1/72 that were supposed to be "soon". Hopefully soon cuz this wad of cash is growing and theres no other way I want to get rid of it.

Anyone know anything about 2mikes bomb bay set release date yet? Dont mind me, just cant find any info from anywhere at the moment.

Utley,

I sent Two Mikes an e-mail a couple of weeks ago to see if they had a B-1B update and I never got a reply. I want to build my B-1B but not if I can't use conventional bombs and can't find AM Bomb Bays.

I'm curious as well. Haven't heard anything else about this either.

You out there, Mike?

Huh too bad. Seems they have been putting both the updates and us off..................

would be nice to have an update, but i quit asking...been waiting for little over a year now for em, so no point since they seem abandoned. ill just have to scratch build some conventional bomb racks instead of JDAMs like i wanted.

Why not try to scratch rotary launchers for the JDAMs? Some one earlier in this thread (I forget who and couldn't immediatey lodcate the page) did a good job. I also tried to scratch a rotary launcher and a conventional rack for cluster bombs. Not quite as sharp as the previous example by better by far than the kit launcher:
