My wife would divorce me if I spent that much for some after market parts.
utley
Yeah they're expensive. Honestly think it's better than the alternative if you ask me..I'll be getting a set here in a few days and report back.
swimmer25k
I blew out a B-1 several years ago to include scratchbuilding my own CRL.  I dragged it around the show circuit on a special base to see the work I did down there.   That’s a lot of money for something you won’t really see.
utley
Yeah I'd agree with you, wish I had the talent and patience to scratch build complicated structures. The Bone is my all time favorite aircraft and I want mine perfect. Been waiting since 2008 to finish building mine and now I'm finally seeing literally everything falling into place and that's something I'm willing to shed cheddar on. Specter1075
Met Details are out of their minds for charging this much. Their LDG and bay set is 400USD as well. Just absurd. Utley, are you intending to get that set too? Why did you pass on Bone Fragments CRL when its half the price?
Specter1075
Swimmer, that's a fantastic looking build! Like Utley, I've been waiting for a long time to get into it. I've built up quite a collection of AM and ideas for what I'll ultimately end up building. Seeing stuff like yours its always good motivation!

I'll never deal with him ever again, and ill just leave it at that.
Specter1075
Well that's unfortunate. I've had nothing but positive interactions with him.

Utley,  Jarrad is awesome and you feel besmirched because he didn’t get you a CRL right off the bat.  You were quite the douche to him on the Facebook B-1 page.   I got to meet him for the first time at IPMS Nats last year and you’ll never find a more pleasant and welcoming person out there.   I don’t think the problem is on his end.  Chris
utley
Nope, that's not it at all. My experience has been VASTLY different. I'd love to have a convo about my issue, but I'm not one to do it publicly since he isn't here to clear the air. He doesn't want my money, and I'd rather spend 400 bucks on a company who wants my business rather than someone with anger management issues. Also how was I the douche? Please.fill me in because all I ever said quite literally was that he wasn't open for 4 years and I've waited patiently. Ill wait for clarification.  I'd also point out I've had nothing but good interactions with him up until 3 months ago out of the blue. So yeah some explanations would be nice. Guess I get to be called a douche without further elaboration or proof which is something Jarred has done to me a few times in emails. Glad I kept them. aircommando130
Swimmer that is a beautiful B-1B! I have a ton of aftermarket for mine too. And like a dumbass I bought the metallic details...just the landing gear only to find it won't support the model. I have a spare set of wings and the extended flap/slat set to do...hopefully I don't mess that up! The B-1 in 48th scale is really neglected as is the C-130. Maybe Reskit will do up some things to "trick it up"Â Â Cheers...Ron
Specter1075
Hey Ron, The guy who designed the Metallic Details sets is now saying he was incorrect initially, and that the landing gear set will support the weight of the model. Are you saying that is not correct? If you have pictures, you should post them to Facebook to make sure no one else loses their money on those over-priced sets! aircommando130
I had bought the Metallic Details gear set (just the gear) on Ebay and then read later that it wouldn't support the built model. But if it will then that's good info. I was going to use the MD gear as a guide to try and put the brake lines on the kit gear but now I won't have to do that. I was in Oman and got pictures of "Seek and Destroy" that are on the Two Bobs decals. I want to build mine like that jet. The pilot took my American Flag on the mission with him.  Cheers...Ron
utley
Im excited about that news too, if it works then I guess this is going to be a metallic details aircraft. Ill get some sets here in the coming days and report back when I get them.

If the prices ever come down, and the sets are in fact strong enough, I may go out on a limb to try them.
aircommando130
There's for sure room for some "engineering" to make it stronger. I think I will build mine with just the fuel tank in the forward bomb bay and the other two empty like she's just sitting on the ramp at Ellworth enjoying the day waiting for her crew to go fly. utley
I have all the goodies for the ship - mechanical flaps, nose, intakes and exhaust, all the barracuda resin and metallic details resin I could get my hands on. I can finally after 20 years get this aircraft built the way I want it, and I CANT WAIT!
Specter1075
Utley, do let us know how it works out with the Met Details stuff. With all that aftermarket you're throwing in, it will be a good test of strength for the gear.
utley
Oh definitely! I might just put the AH1Z and my other apache models down until I finally get this thing done. Last I worked on this I was rescribing panel lines off the main body and working per blueprint to get the accurate lines down and got about halfway done with that. Now with all these pieces coming in its just a matter of painting the tiny little details and I can certainly do that!
Specter1075
Mind if I asked where you found blueprints? I LOATHE scribing, but they are pretty out of wack on such an old kit. If you dont mind sharing, I'd have the option at least.
utley
They arent really blueprints, but its a 100% accurate pictograph showing every single panel on the aircraft from all possible angles. Ill see if I can find it on my drive and host it for you. Keep in mind that this works for both the A and B versions. Â edit: heres a small picture of what to expect. the download link is for the PDF. the resolution is pretty good so the screen doesnt really do it much justice.
