Hasegawa F-15C 1/72

Recommended Posts

It seems that I have the "decal god" against me!!!!

First the Academy SR-71 that suffered from decal problems (OK, Academy decals aren´t the best on the planet....) and now....... :worship: ........

I wanted so badly to finish my F-15C (see previous posts) before starting my F-14(s) for the GB. The kit decals aren´t in my opinion very good, since they are thick, very thick, and very few also. When applying them it appeared some silvering on some of them, but not having other decals, and hoping it would work out reasonably well anyway, I went on with (who knows how much) Microset/sol, gloss coat, weathering (pretty good) and finally I dull coated it yesterday night.

And then today, when I carefully controlled it and took the masks off.... :worship: ....the silvering was still there, maybe even enhaced by the dull coat!

I really don´t know waht to do: finish it anyway or try to get the decals away (is there any chance of doing it without having to repaint the whole a/c?), find and buy some others and apply the new ones.

Suggestions?

Kristian,

Take a needle and poke a bunch of holes in the offending decals. Hit it with Micro Sol and it should take care of the silvering.

I've had it work with the dull coat already in place, but not 100% of the time. The key is the underlying gloss coat. If that was reasonable smooth to begin with, you've got a good chance.

Thanks Volzi for the suggestion: I´ll try it right away!

Efrain: what to say? I start feeling like you are like an angel protecting me from the f*@~¤d up things I manage to do! Thank you once more for the support. I hope I won´t need your help this time! :worship:

Guys: I´ll let you know asap how it goes!

If that doesn't work try Future; although, it will mean reapplying the matte coat.

I´ve been working with a thin needle and microsol ´til now and I must say that it seems to work. The result is not a dream, it´s not as good as you´d wish for, but I think it will work. I´ll leave the Eagle rest over night and check how it´s doing tomorrow.

Thanks guys for readily helping me out of this s*@§!
