volzj
Decals right OOB, nothing fancy on this one. Have a club "Jolly Rogers" month coming up in addition to the group build.
Iron Eagle
Wow, it looks great! Wait a second, is that national insignia on the forward fuselage printed upside down or am I missing something?

Oh man!!!! How did I miss that. It's a one piece decal and the whole thing is upside down. B) No fixin' that.
Bullet101
It looks very nice As for the insignia and stripes on the nose you could always use the twobobs ones as replacements
Iron Eagle
I just made your day didn't I... Like Bullet101 said, it still looks like one awesome cat, and if it makes you feel any better, here is someone who did exactly the same to his masterpiece.

Oh man!!!! How did I miss that. It's a one piece decal and the whole thing is upside down. B) No fixin' that. That hurts. You may be able to place another Star and Bar over the upside down one. I am thinking you may have done this on both sides.
Bullet101
yeah but also the problem is, if it's a one peice decal then the chevrons on the stripes will be upside down as well. Edited January 31, 2005 by Bullet101
volzj
Actually the other side is OK. If you look there are 5 chevrons below and two above the national insignia. It's reversed and correct on the other side. Time to head over to Two Bob's.
Bullet101
Still i think it looks real nice Oh couple of questions though have you glued the engine fairings in place? coz i find they don't conform to well to the round thingy that goes in there when you glue them after so i'm curious to see if this is a better way of doing things? And second how you gonna do her standard nosewheel or launching one?

B) I'm doing it with the gear in the "up", non-cat position. Just placed the Two Bob's order. :P :o
Iron Eagle
Yeah I agree, this is too nice of a model to just let the mistake sit!
raptor22
What you can do is put some Micro Sol on it and VERY VERY VERY DELICATELY AND CAREFULLY remove that decal... it's a daunting task, but can be done!
FrankC
I did something similar on a spitfire tail. I put the finflash on backwards - so it was blue white and red vs red white and blue.. DOH - found out about it at a contest. I think that removing the decal is tantamount to disaster. If you are going to remove it - you better plan on repainting the nose at the very least. The best way I have found to remove decals is to use some of that label embossing tape (can't recall the name of it off hand - you use a gun with a dial to "cha-chink" out labels.. The glue on the back of it is PERFECT for this task).. Stick the label tape to the decal it and will come right up - but in chunks. Be careful with the tape - it will also pull the paint off. I fixed my spitfire by putting a new decal on - you can't tell the difference. The best idea proposed so far is to simply put a new star and bar over the upside down one. That's what I would do. If that didn't work - well you aren't doing any more work than you would have to strip them off, so it's worth a shot. I think that mistakes like this are where you really develop your skills.. I don't know about everyone else, but fixing my own mistakes is more work than building the model. good luck though - it's looking real sweet! Regards, --Frank
