jmdmsu
about how big would that be? jason
Green-Meanie
it would be slightly bigger than the AMT/Ertl kit but not by much. :o
habu2
:o That price makes even the Tamiya 1:32 F-16 kit look cheap!!! :D
dragon
it would be slightly bigger than the AMT/Ertl kit but not by much. :o So that means that its about the same size (and shape) of say, a Medium Pizza?
Randy Wise
YAHOO!!!!... then OUCH!!! I was stoked big time when I saw the headline. Wow! Talk about a dream come true. But I'm with Habu on this one; expensive! There's no way on God's Green Earth that I can separate with over $250.00 (Can) for a damn model kit. Not a chance. My conscience won't let me do it, but my wife would flip out as well. I'll still hold out for Fine Molds to return to earth and give Star Wars geeks what they really, really want - a 1/72 scale Y-Wing. Until then I ain't biting. Peace, Randy
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
So that means that its about the same size (and shape) of say, a Medium Pizza? At the price of about 15 of them, yes......
CraigSargent
There's the answer - don't buy pizzas for the next year and a half and you'll have saved up for one. Will definitely be on my shopping list. Box art is up at least: Edited May 12, 2005 by CraigSargent
mazinkaiser
Geee...need to save up now as I was so tempting to get the old MPC version for over $60 the last time I saw it. Now it is $190 and I have no intention to say no this time. Hmmm, maybe I'll go grab me the X-wing first, maybe the upcoming special edition that follows the DVD boxart: ....and I hope they'll do the Star Destroyer soon.... Grizzly
it would be slightly bigger than the AMT/Ertl kit but not by much. I would say a bit smaller. "official" length of the falcon is 27 meters long, 37 cm at 1/72. The ERTL FALCON is about 40cm long. the cockpit and the acces tube are too small Edited May 12, 2005 by Grizzly
Grizzly
Some pics : http://www.hobby.co.jp/hobby_show/japan/pla/11.htm Worth the price IMHO. Spare some money...
RedHeadKevin
Why-oh-why don't they do stuff in 1/48? ( I know a Falcon would be big, but a really good X-, Y-, A-, B-wing or TIE fighters (ALL types) would be great... Too bad they put Alfred Wong out of the SW business. ckalina
"official" length of the falcon is 27 meters long, 37 cm at 1/72. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the length of the exterior Falcon mockup used for filming with actual actors. Problem is that the exterior mockup was too small. Look at the Falcon in the hangar at the Hoth base, when Han and Chewie are climbing around the outside doing repairs. The Falcon's flight deck is clearly too small when compared to the set used for interior scenes. If I remember correctly, the "real" Falcon was about 30-35 meters. I was trying to find this out so that I could calculate the actual scale of the MPC-ERTL kit. If I'm not mistaken it came out to be within spitting distance of 1/72 on that basis. My_name_1s_MUD
Today is a good day. <INSERT THE HAPPIEST EMOTICON YOU'VE EVER SEEN> And grizzly is right about the size. Good discussion of this over at Starshipmodeler.com forums.
GMK
For sale, 1 x soul (and complete model collection, less FM stuff) to pay for the Falcon!!! I don't usually use emoticons, but: :o  :D :D
Dave Williams
It's going to be a great kit and full of detail. Based on the detail and quality of their other kits like Slave 1, it doesn't seem overpriced, although it is expensive. Given the box art and the parts shown, I assume it will be the ESB version with the extra rear landing gear legs?

Rigth, I was wrong, but just a little... I checked my MPC, and it's 46 cm long. If you look carefully to the pics here : http://runchick.hp.infoseek.co.jp/hs2005may/23.jpg http://runchick.hp.infoseek.co.jp/hs2005may/24.jpg http://runchick.hp.infoseek.co.jp/hs2005may/25.jpg http://runchick.hp.infoseek.co.jp/hs2005may/26.jpg you will see, written somwhere 42 cm. I can't read japanese, but it is certainly the length, no doubt... It's still smaller than MPC Falcon...

Khan
A 1/72 scale Y-wing? If only, man. If only. I won't be buying an FM Falcon for the same reason I don't buy Gundam Perfect Grades, even though I want one. Materials alone can nearly equal the price of a lot of kits, and for something as large and complex as the Falcon or a PG you can bet that spending nearly as much on paint and such as you did on the kit is a ballpark figure. That aside... Look at how so much exterior detail as well as subassemblies are separate from the fuselage. Just imagine, if you will, the possibilities for making a straight-up YT-1300 without Han's "special modifications," or for making another variant aside from the Falcon. Not only does it seem to be a safe bet that FM will nigh-flawlessly carry off a reproduction of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, but that the kit is going to be loaded with potential. Awesome.
