Randy Wise
Evening All, Work continues on the old Monogram 1/48 LM kit. I finished "texturing" the Ascent Stage exterior, but I can't attach the front section until my decals arrive (only dry fit for now). The decals in question are the range markings for the three windows. Areas of "wrinkled" aluminum skin on Eagle's exterior I replicated by creasing .005" thick plastic sheet that was cut to size and then flattening out once glued onto the model. The creases held, but it doesn't look over done. On the top I used a Dremel ginder bit to gouge the plastic and then softened the appearance with some vigorous sanding. The chuck of plastic in the docking port will connect to a similar piece in the just completed CSM that is resting on its base. I also had to cut open and glass that docking window on the port side. silver1
Doing an excellent job on a very significant subject. My collection will not be complete until I have one done.
