silver1
I'm considering converting the Hobby Craft Bf 109B to the Bf 109 V-4 as it was the first 109 to see combat. I understand the upper cowling needs to be reshaped and the under-wing oil cooler was not present. It had the Junkers Jumo 210 and I hope the forward fuselage-cross section wasn't too different. Anything else? Also, what markings did it carry in Spain? The numbers "6-2" on the side and RLM 63 over RLM 65 seems to be my best guess but I can't find any pictures of this plane. Any help would be appreciated. TIA
David Walker
Best I could find: This site on the other hand says that the above picture is of V-3 not V-4. There is plenty of good info here for you though, including a couple of line drawings: http://www.zi.ku.dk/personal/drnash/model/spain/bf109.html And a color profile of 6-1 (shown in a photo in the site above): Hope this helps some. mossieramm
You might also want to check www.messerschmitt-bf109.de.
silver1
Conflicting resources! Gotta love it! I'm not sure about the profile on "The Messerschmitt Bf 109 in Spain" because it seems to have a DB engine and V4 (D-IALY) was powered by a Junkers Jumo. Oh well, I'm going to cross my fingers and proceed anyway. Thanks for the help, guys.
