Leanjk
Hi... it's me again  Wich is better to dilute Tamyia acrylic paint using airbrush? water or alchool? What is the ratio?? Thanks again.... Edited June 13, 2005 by Leanjk
Scalephantomphixer
I use now Tamiya thinner: before that I used alcool, but I got many times a very grainy paint surface. The paint was drying before it hit the plastic I thin as much as 50% HTH, Pierre
MikeC
I've tried both, and get best results with Tamiya's own thinner (no I do not have shares neither am I on the payroll). I also add a drop of Cryla "acrylic flow enhancer" (drying retarder). Ratios? I tend to go on "that's about right", depends on the colour. HTH
compressorstall
I don't have the Tamiya thinner, so can't comment- but I use 70% isopropyl alcohol (Rubbing Alcohol) to thin this paint and it works fine. Roughly 50% mix has worked for me as well. Clean airbrush with the rubbing alcohol. Very inexpensive.
Carbine
I use Tamiya's own thinner, and it works best of all the ones I have tried. Goes together like peas and carrots! Tamiya paints like to be stirred well before spraying too.
dmthamade
Testors Modelmaster Acrylic Enamel thinner. I use this with Gunze as well. When it runs out i`ll try the Tamiya stuff. Don

redruffensore
Testors Modelmaster Acrylic Enamel thinner That'll do, but I've found that Testors Model Master Acryl Diluant Thinner Acryl works even better when airbrushing. It has to contain glycerin, because it retards drying at the tip and flow better than all the acrylic thinners I have used. I have used it across the board with Tamiya, Poilly Scale, Aeromaster (old brand), MM Acryl, or Gunze. Good stuff and should be available anywhere MM Acryl paints are sold. For helping to keep small spotter brushes from drying when brush painting with acrylics, I like Liquitex's Flow Enhancer, available at Arts and Crafts stores.
