Don
i dont suppose you know if that was a stirling that they used for paradrops as well? I don't think that's a Stirling in the picture that you posted ? I could be wrong, but I think all of the mid-upper turrets on the Stirlings were removed to conserve weight for glider-tug and resupply drop duties (your picture seems to show a mid-upper turret). Also the Stirling was a tail dragger. Therefore the tail area sat really low to the ground and had a sharp upward angle. The aircraft in the picture you posted seems to be of a tricycle type gear design. I believe it is an RAF Albemarle twin engined aircraft. Regards, Don
Bob Perry
Seems to me it's an Albemarle.
peebeep
Seems to me it's an Albemarle. Concur, you can see from the horizontal attitude of the fuselage - Albermarles had tricycle gear. Peebeep
