JohnReid
This is the upper floor that runs from wall to wall.It is made from coffee stir sticks stained with my usual mix of nimbus grey and raw umber put on in very thin layers using multiple coats. JohnReid
putting in the wall panels that separate Fokker's office from the rest of the upper floor.Notice that he gets the nice hardwood planking. Edited February 9, 2018 by JohnReid

JohnReid
Flash Forward. This is the Fokker triplane resting on a flatbed awaiting inspection about the aileron failure that caused many accidents killing a lot of German aces.Fokker almost lost his job over this but was saved by the German fighter pilots that rallied to his defense. Eventually, the error was discovered to be water that had leaked into some wood near the aileron hinges. Edited February 9, 2018 by JohnReid

JohnReid
What is a Camel doing in a German hangar? sometimes during the war an enemy aircraft would be forced down in order to inspect it for new technology. They would often paint it in their own colors and fly it as a transport. JohnReid
The above pic is from my 1:16th diorama "Keepers of the Flame,1919-1929." It depicts that era of aviation before air regs when all things were possible. There are many storylines here which I will explain as we go along.

JohnReid
Another pic of the Jenny just inside the hangar doors note the 2 wartime pilots talking off to the side. The Jenny was a great training aircraft but probably it was too docile as a lot of pilots were not prepared for the hot aircraft to follow. JohnReid
Now back to the Fokker. This aircraft looks like a relatively new one so the chance of aileron rot would be slim but remember Fokker at this time was carefully examining all of his aircraft involved in accidents .At this point, it was still a mystery. K2Pete
John ... I hope you realize that rather than create a new post for every phrase and then another for every image, you can put them all on one posting. It makes it that much easier for you  ... and reads a lot better for we viewers. You can post at least 10 images per posting ... and it may be a lot more than that!  Having said that ... your build is ... spek-TAK-yoo-lar-r-r!   Thanx for posting 'em!  Pete (near Niagara Falls)
