Hi!

Just recieved the AMT U.S.S. Enterprise in the mail!! kit number 6676.

Question is, it's the TOS ship, so do I have to paint hte "Aztec" pattern on it and if so how?

And also, are there aftermarket goodies available for theis kit??

Just wondering.

Liam

As Randy and majortomski implied, the TOS Enterprise had an uncomplicated, monochromatic paintjob. Reasons twofold I think . . . one was Father Gene's idea that the ships be that way (He hated the smoke/flame, doo-dad encrusted look of many early sci-fi shows such as Flash Gordon) and it made shooting/matting much easier.

While it may take a while to seperate the wheat from the chaff, a google image search will reveal many pictures of the original ship used in the show as well as some replicas and as Randy mentioned, ocassionally the paint's been tweaked a bit for asthetic reasons.

Well, there are a few areas of two tone coloring on the ship, specifically the areas on the warp engines near the pylons and the front part of the central pylon. As for decals, check the following sites:

culttvman.com (chech the hobbyshop)

starshipmodeler.com

federationmodels.com

One or all of those sites should have aftermarket supplies that can be used to dress up your model (decals and resin bits). CultTVman has some nice photos of completed Enterprise models in the classic section and their hobby shop also has the official reprint of Paul Newitt's Starfleet Assembly Manuals in paperback form with updated information. It is well worth the investment.
